Thoughts On This Diamond...

Hi! First post here. This site has been so informative. I am looking at this diamond and would love your input.

TIA

Hi Renmars and welcome!

The diamond has potential, have you looked at many? If you give us an idea of your budget for the stone, we can have a look for you.

Also have you considered lowering the clarity to VS? Just a suggestion but you can go a little lower if you wish without visual sacrifice but no problem if you'd rather stick with VVS.

Just posting this one I found for you to look at. It has medium blue fluorescence if that's ok with you.

Thank you for your response! I have been looking a bit. I would like to stay under $11,000.00. I’m not so stuck on a VVS, but would like to stay VS1 or better. I think I am more of a “mind clean” person but then again if I cant see it with the naked eye I would be willing to change clarity. Fluorescence....I know there has been a lot of discussion about it. I guess if I compared the diamonds side by side in the sun I would see the difference to determine if I prefer none. My concern is it looking a little darker while in the sun than the stones around it it as my setting is a floral halo, link below. Dumb question, will fluorescence change the upgrade value with a private jeweler?

You're welcome! No concerns with the clarity, we can stick with VS/ VVS if that's your preference. Fluorescence shouldn't darken a stone visibly, you might notice a faint blue hint in some sunlight but that's about all with medium.

Best thing if you're thinking you might want to upgrade is buy from a vendor with a solid upgrade policy, private jewellers tend to offer very little. With a vendor offering 100% value on your existing diamond, it's by far the best way to preserve your investment I think.

Nice stone, nothing really jumps out at me.

This has potential, the clarity comments (Clouds not shown) and strong fluoro might be a cause for concern but this gets you size AND a colorless stone.

ETA: I LOVE the setting you've chosen, it is beautiful. But please see if they can do some dainty prongs, the prongs on the recent rings they have shown are so awful.

Thank you so much! I will take a look. I was looking at around 1.24 or higher because the BN setting I chose in a size 5.75 couldn’t accommodate a smaller size diamond. Besides calling JA,how can you tell what size diamond the JA setting can hold because that kne is beautiful too. :)

Each seting on JA lists the size stone it can accomodate.

you can see on the link for the setting, it can accomodate a stone .50ct to 1.50ct.

I LOVE the BN setting, i have to say i am really impressed with the exception of the prongs. BUT a wedding band will not sit flush, you'll have to get a curved wedding band to match it. the JA setting i posted accomodates a straight wedding band. So you definitely need to consider that. The original stone you posted is beautiful and you have nice options with JA too. Just need to decide on the setting.

Thank you farrhlyn, I really appreciate your help. I don't think the wedding band will be too much of an issue, I can wear it without one as this will be an upgrade for 20 years. I will probably rotate between my original and this one. :)
