Bad News! I missed the boat on the 1.7 for $10k that I wanted to purchase. Any thoughts on these two:

https://www.ritani.com/diamonds/round-diamond-1-82-Carat-I-color-GIA-certified/D-JFYNQ7 --no-- please no
https://www.ritani.com/diamonds/round-diamond-1-56-Carat-I-color-GIA-certified/D-3HS6H1,, better but the table is a bit big

I'm ordering to the store tonight but need some help. If anyone is around please please please help.
So out of the two I would pick the 1.56 carat

Yes....don't! That stone is too deep making it face up smaller, the crown angle is way too deep as well. Not a well cut stone.

Stay within these parameters:

Depth no more than 62%
Crown angle 34-35
Pavilion angle 40.6 - 40.9
Table 54 - 58

Can you tell us how you came to choose that particular stone? Why you thought it was perhaps the one to buy? Just curious.

Miss GotRocks posted some good numbers/angles to follow

There is almost a .30 difference between the two stones you are considering. I don't know what criteria you are using to select them for consideration but the HCA rates them as 2.7 and 2.8 respectively - very good cut/worth buying if the price is right.

What is HCA rate? Miss rocks, you'd go with either one?

No, I'm sorry but I wouldn't go with either. I'd keep looking using the guidelines previously posted.

Yoohoo...just thought I would let you know the 1.7ct for $10k is still available. It only scores HCA 2.7 but it looks good enough to bring it in and have eyes on it to see what you think.

Wow this is PERFECT! What is the HCA rate btw? I've ordered it for an in-store preview. Miss Rocks any thoughts on it?

HCA says 2.7 - worth buying if the price is right. I found another I, VS2 stone for 3k more so the price could be in your favor here. However, there are no gifts in diamonds and they are priced according to their attributes. At this point, I'd say take a look and let us know what you think. Examine it in as many lighting conditions as you can and check to make sure that it meets all of your eye cleanliness requirements.

Thanks! What does HCA stand for? I've ordered it and it will be in store within a few days. Thanks again for your help!

I wouldn't worry about HCA that much. I've seen quite a few AGS ideal 0 diamonds that will score a 2.6-2.8 on the HCA. It penalizes some deeper crown and pav combos but AGS says the light performance can still be ideal.

HCA is the Holloway Cut Advisor and can be found at the top of the page under tools. You can input depth, table, crown and pavilion angles on stones. It doesn't help you select a stone but will help you weed out those less than desirable.
