I recently made a ring with a 3 carat Asscher lab diamond. I wasn’t happy with the overall look of the Asscher once it was bezeled. I decided to switch gears and look for a colored stone. My jeweler was lucky enough to be able to pop the diamond out and remove it from underneath without dismantling the ring or disturbing the bezel. I am very limited on what will fit. I could only find one yellow sapphire that is almost a perfect fit that seems to meet the requirements I had for color and size.
The stock pictures showed something more canary yellow and it was a bit more golden then what the pictures showed. I am happy with the color when daylight. It is a little concerning when it goes deep golden or has dark steps. Maybe this is normal for any type of stepcut? I just don’t want to make another mistake again with the wrong gem and I am curious on how much it will change color in a bezel? I am hoping to keep that lemon yellow color.
Here is the GIA cert:
My jeweler has the setting but it fits in the plastic model perfectly.
I love the yellow color of the stone in daylight. I am just worried about it going dark or more golden in a bezel ring. I am not sure what is normal and I don’t want to make a second mistake. Thought’s on this stone?
