THOUGHTS ON THIS 1.95 PRINCESS "TRUE HEARTS" stone from JA?

Re: THOUGHTS ON THIS 1.95 PRINCESS "TRUE HEARTS" stone from

That's unusual; don't see too many people switching from asscher to princess.

Re: THOUGHTS ON THIS 1.95 PRINCESS "TRUE HEARTS" stone from

You simply can't go wrong buying a True Hearts princess diamond from JA.

I just posted some pictures earlier today on this forum of the 2.0 carat AGS 0 diamond center stone "True Hearts" princess I recieved this morning from James Allen. If you look through my various posts throughout the diamond searching process, you will see That James Allen was extremely helpful, and that Jim Schultz personally recomended the diamond.

The stone is absolutely beautiful as you can see in the pictures I am posting here too. Everyone here pointed me to AGS 0 stones. The one we bought far exceeds the beauty of any diamond I have seen before in light performance, even in the dimmest light it is brilliant and flashy with no dead spots. Truly it is almost unreal!

To save time I did not wait for ASET images to decide on the stone; I just took Jim Schultz's advice from the video at their site. I wonder if anything about the ASET imaget would have dissuaded me from purchasing this stone - if so it would have been a huge mistake. Bottom line; talk to Jim Schultz directly and ask him about the stone. He is the expert and took great care of us!

Good lck in your search.

looks like a nice diamond.

So I'm taking your title literally...but that's not a "true hearts" stone. This is:

The one you picked looks ok. It's worth getting an aset on.

Re: THOUGHTS ON THIS 1.95 PRINCESS "TRUE HEARTS" stone from

Dude, I'm digging the new JA site.

It's an OK stone if you ask me, I'd find one with more Chevrons, but that's just me. When I was looking at princess, I only wanted ones with 4 Chevrons, more facets, but that's just my personal preference...

As far as the ASET, I'd want it. It's another bit of information that's very helpful if you ask me. There was a train of thought (probably still apparent) where most used to say an AGS 0 RB wouldn't need an IS or ASET, but I've found quite a few AGS 0's with leakage under the table (keep in mind, those are RB not princess). Is it detrimental to the performance of the stone? Probably not... would I want a stone with the possibility of leakage? Neh. So IFFFFFF it were me, I'd damn well ask for the ASET. So you should too. It's just another bit of info to make yourself feel good about your purchase...

The "True Hearts" Designation - for Princess diamonds - at JA has only been very recently added to their web site - in the last month at most. The criteria for a Princess True Hearts is apparently an ideal cut AGSL 0 rating though not all the AGS O Princess diamonds show this as of yet, because the site has not fully updated this new designation. When I first saw my ideal cut AGS 0 princess there, they did not yet designate any Princess diamonds as True Heart - in fact you could not even select True Heart as a criteria for a Princess search until very recently.

I think if you check with James Allen, they do indeed consider this to be a True Hearts stone.

As far as Chevrons being necessary, the 2 carat stone just purchased has only 2 chevrons per side, and the light performance is absolutely magnificent. I was told by several experts that the greater number of chevrons can create more small sparkles like ice crystals, (and possibly less fire) but that it is not absolute. The cutter makes the decision about the number of chevrons based upon the original rough stone and will do whatever is most advantageous for that specific rough stone.

^Seems like a misnomer. How are these showing true HEARTS?

IIRC, only princess of hearts stones show...well, hearts.

EDIT : nah, I wouldn't call those true hearts on the JA site... seems misleading to me. I'm sure JA or an expert will correct me if I am wrong.

EDIT 2:

I agree a princess doesn't have hearts! But the association between diamonds and hearts (as in romance) is not limited to round diamonds, so using the term hearts cannot be limited to the literal.

If you do a search for True Hearts Princess diamonds at JA, you will see they are commonly AGS 0 ideal cut pieces, so this is very likely their criteria:

LOL you and I picked the exact same stone from GOG!

Great catch! :)

This is around 15K?

I think for the price, cut quality, size, H color, it is tough to beat.

Many think of the term "hearts" to show the optical symmetry of a perfectly cut RB stone to display very symmetrical hearts when viewed from the pavilion (and the table view to show arrows, although even poor cut stones will show the H&As, but with less symmetry). For JA to call their collection True Hearts is just that, a name for their line - a selection of certain stones to meet their criteria to be in the "hearts" line. I'm sure there are at least a few to find the name misleading, and as diamond prosumers and enthusiasts, I'm sure you can see why. :wink2: ;)

I really hope that JA corrects this!! When they first updated the site they said that they'd take of the cut option for fancy stones because a "good" cut stone can out perform an "excellent" or "ideal"...which we all said was a smart decision because it really doesn't matter. Plus because all the antique cuts are coming back and are considered only "good"....it is very misleading to have the cut options up there again.

Re: THOUGHTS ON THIS 1.95 PRINCESS "TRUE HEARTS" stone from

I get why they did it, similar to an ACA they want a term to be synonymous with ideally cut, but the problem is there term was originally just for heats and arrows stones, so it causes some confusion when they don't address this but encompass more cuts.

When I read the title I thought " oh he found a princess of hearts in the JA haystack!"

^yeah, me too. Geez, I really dig the stone in your avatar! :naughty:

Hearts and semantics aside, the OP asked for help and didn't get much. As one who was helped can I ask if a few of the more qualufied experts can set aside "hearts" debate and help them out?

Julie really answered the question earlier.

(But I agree, they need to change the name from True Hearts to something else! Signature Princess is really easy!)
