First of all - thanks ... i've been a long-time lurker and have found this forum extremely helpful in educating me.

Any opinions on this 1.17 round (GIA : 1248342537) ?

It seems to tick all the boxes for me but the missing piece of the puzzle is light performance : Blue Nile will not provide ASET/IdealScope imagery.

It scores highly (0.6) on HCA but i understand that is better used as a filtering tool to reject poor stones than a confirmation of a stone being a good performer.

Any advice or thoughts from experienced/wiser folks greatly appreciated.

Equally - if anyone knows where you can pay to get an ASET analysis performed in London post purchase please let me know as I haven't found anywhere.

Cheers,
Matt

Both optical brilliance and symmetry analysis images show very strong light performance. Actually, it is one of the best BN sig stones I have seen in terms of light return. I don't think you need ASET.

Looks good to me based off the GCAL report. Proportions look right to me also. The BN 360 degree video also looks great.

If you bought it, congrats!

Thanks, guys. Appreciate the input.

The only worry I had is that no one seems to understand the GCAL methodology so I wasn't sure if I could rely on it as an indicator. I think i'd still like to try and get an professional ASET image post purchase just for peace of mind so if anyone can advise a place to do that in the UK, much appreciated.

ac117: thanks for the offer, it looks great value, but I want to do a bespoke band so will stick with the BN one.

Do you think this one is better or worse than the above in the original post?

I have the option between both at the same price.

The one below and attached is a better colour (F), also an eye-clean VS2 cert'd by GIA, and more or less the same carat weight ... however it seems to have worse visual symmetry and i'm not sure about the light performance - especially the contrast it shows on the table in the ASET.

Any advice appreciated!

Haven't got the time right now, but have you taken a look at the other usual suspects (e.g. WF, BGD, JA, etc) for comparable stones?

The second option would only come into consideration for me if the price was right. Like you said, the optical symmetry, leaves a little to be desired compared with the stone you found on BN.
