Elmo: Ah ha! it was a grader mix-up (aka: brain fart)! Wellllll, tell me, was it nice at least? I''ve given up on trying to find an old mine brilliant until I can upgrade to a 1.5 carat.

Exactly, I couldn't have described it better

. That stone looked consistent with the 4-5 other stones of that style that I've seen. To choose between them I seriously recommend having more than one sent to view in person.

As you've probably read here there are distinct tradeoffs between the different styles. This ex/ex modern style has a nice even face up appearance and avoids the bow tie that the traditional eight main stone can have; they are usually well-made and consistent. Good traditional eight main stones have better contrast and big bold flashes. A completely different look, and the one I prefer, by far.

I'm not quoting others, I've seen so many of these in the past year. More than most dealers see in a year. Your choice in faceting style is strictly a personal preference. So don't make any decisions based on what I say except to look at lots of stones.

Talk about a brain fart - your 1.10 is not the one I saw, this is the one: here. Exact same situation though. (Both F-VS and just a cloud noted.) I'm still certain that the same mistake was made.

I wonder what the likelihood is of finding an EX/EX pol/sym grade on a traditional eight main GIA report - that is to say, one that actually belongs to an 8 main stone. At best, I''ve seen them with VG/VG.

I was finally able to see the video (couldnt download it on my mac for some reason). I dont care for the 3rd stone at all, I guess b/c I just dont like radiants, and it just looks like a radiant with softer edges to me.....I really think stones 1 and 2 look identical-very odd. If it were me, I would either go with 1 or 4. The fourth stone is just lovely, and if I had 5K lying around,
I''d snatch that baby up and have a pendant made out of it! Its such a lovely stone with unbelievable fire.

I think if you choose between 1, 2, or 4 you''re fine. You will end up with a gorgeous stone no matter what!!!!
