thoughts on these specs?

nice specs!!...any pic of the hearts?

just requested the hearts pic and an idealscope image..
what else should i ask for?

An ASET.

That stone looks gorgeous and the setting is beautiful! They have a cheaper pave setting, but it's thinner and less practical for everyday.

james allen doesnt send ASET's on round brilliants.. they only do it for colored stones...

interesting

An idealscope image will do the same thing. Just wait for that and post it here for further evaluation.

Otherwise, good find. It's gorgeous and clean!

You don't need an ASET on a stone that has been graded ideal in light performance by AGS anyway. It is a beautiful stone and great choice! I am not in love with that setting, but it is fine if you think she wants diamonds in the engagement ring setting. I really prefer the wedding band to have diamonds, personally.

DOH - I missed the AGS part - there's an ASET on the cert! :)

$100 less and scoring a .7 on the HCA
couple of feathers but probably eye clean?

yeah.. i am torn between a simply classic 4 prong tiffany like this one..

or one that is delicate with some side stones like what i posted above

That VS2 looks pretty eye clean, but the gemologist can tell you for sure.

As for the setting, that's a knife edge that's a little "sharp" on the outside. Some people like it because it's a more Tiffany-type style. This may be more comfortable: http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/solitaire/2mm-Comfort-Fit-White-Gold-Solitaire-Ring.html

Do you think she'd like the bling or the simple setting?

i think she might like the bling but who is to say she likes "that particular one" you know.. might be better off with just the simple tiff and then telling her she can pick out what she likes one day.. :?:

And it isn't necessary to have both an idealscope and an ASET since they are both essentially giving the same information. ASETs are great for fancy shapes but I prefer an IS with RBs.

Jonas I think you meant that they provide ASETs for fancy shapes not colored stones. :))

HI:

Soooooo, whaja decide???? :))

cheers--Sharon

You don't need the idealscope, you have the ASET. It does the same thing in giving you information on light performance.

Just look at the image on your certificate: http://www.jamesallen.com/AGS-Diamond-Certificate/1479340/G-VS1-Ideal-Cut-0.78-Carat-Round-Diamond.JPG

Not for a modern round brilliant. An idealscope is enough for rounds. Also not for AGS0 stones. It's not needed. :read: 8)
