Hey everyone,

Been using this board extensively to learn about stones and settings - great resource!

Looking into purchasing a ring and was curious about peoples' feedback. I am buying a custom halo bezel setting for my girlfriend, who has small fingers (size 4.25). I am looking to buy a center stone in the 1.25 carat range. Here's a GIA stone I'm thinking of:

Weight: 1.201
G/VS2 Ideal
Polish/Sym: VG/VG

Sarin Report:
Depth: 61.5%
Table: 54.3%
Crown: 35.5%
Pavil: 41.2%
Cutlet: .4%

The stone is listed at $7,534. You think this is a good deal?

Thanks in advance for your help!

hey abkaufman, welcome to ps..i was a newbie not long before u...im certain many on here will give u good info.

im not a expert, but i can give u some of mine thoughts

u think your gf has small finger, mine wears a 3

where u buying this ring from?

and u listed a crown of 54.3%..that's unusally high.....did u meant the table?

Yes, check the crown measurement - good catch Freddy!

Yep - sorry meant table is 54.3. Will try to correct it in my original post. Looking to buy a diamond and work with Quest Jewelers, after all the positive feedback I''ve read on the board...

hey ab

welcome to ps!

could you double check your measurements? make sure the numbers are right and confirm that these are indeed percentage measurements and not angle measurements. it may not seem like it makes much of a difference but it does.

The diamond has a Sarin report and is also GIA. There are slight differences between the two:

GIA:
G color
Depth - 61.5%
Table - 55%
Polish/Sym: VG/VG
Measurements: 8.67-6.92 x 4.24mm
1.20 carat

Sarin:
Depth: 61.5%
Table: 54.3%
Crown Angle: 35.5
Pavil Angle: 41.2
Cutlet 0.4%
1.201 carat

How does that sound? With a budget for the stone of about $8K (need something for setting and proposal!), are there others that jump out at you?

Thanks!

Measurements: 8.67-6.92 x 4.24mm ??? once again, check ur numbers...doesnt make sense!

This isn''t a round diamond I take it, what shape is it?

Whoa - I''m having issues copying the specs:

6.86x6.92x4.24

It is a round brilliant. Sorry for all the confusion. I''m looking for a round brilliant in the 1.25 carat range.
