Thoughts on Laser Inscription benefits? drawbacks?

I am going to be purchasing in the VERY near future and the stone I have in mind is GIA certified but is not laser inscribed. For some reason I would really like the stone to be inscribed with the certificate number (I think just because it is an added security feature if the ring ever has to go into a shop). After talking to someone at GIA I found out that the total to have it done will be about $150.

SO...my question is, are there any benefits or drawbacks to having a stone laser inscribed. I am thinking in terms of insurance rates, does it affect the look of the stone at all, or anything else that anyone would like to share.

I'd also like some opinions on the idea of laser inscription. I'm thinking of putting a message on the diamond for her (when I find the stone that I want). I have no intention of ever tradeing in our engagement diamond, so that does not worry me.
