Hi all,
I am very inexperienced at diamond buying and seek your honest opinions about a stone I am looking at for a solitaire ring.
I find myself getting drawn to the G-I diamonds because of the ever-so-slight warmth in color.
And I was looking for a stone around the 0.5ct mark.
I found this stone on Whiteflash.

Shape: Round
Carat: 0.452
Color : H
Clarity: VS1
Cut: Ideal (Whiteflash's "A Cut Above")
Depth %: 61.0
Table %: 55.5
Crown Angle: 34.0
Star: 53.0
Pavilion Angle: 40.6
Crown %: 15.0
Lower Girdle %: 77.0
Measurements: 4.93x4.97x3.02
Culet Pointed
Fluorescence: Negligible
Girdle: Thin to Medium Faceted

Holloway Cut Advisor Score: 0.6

I have attached the actual image, ideal-scope, ASET, hearts&arrows photos of the diamond.
I would really appreciate any feedback on the stone. Do you think it is a good performer? Will it have good shine and sparkle?
Please let me know your honest opinions.

Thanks for all the help !

L-O-V-E-!-!-!-! It's gorgeous!!!!

You cannot go wrong with a WF ACA. They are cut to such tight parameters to give maximum light return and sparkle!

It will be beautiful! What setting are you thinking of?

It's a perfect stone!

Thanks all, for the honest comments..
It is a beautiful stone, isn't it !!
I am liking it very much too :)

@Angeline:
I want a very simple, clean look. Also, I prefer a medium/lower profile setting.
That's why I was thinking of the X-prong trellis setting.
Though I am still undecided the metal.
Any other setting recommendations?

Also, do you feel that $1330 is a fair/reasonable price to pay for this stone?

Thanks again for all the input.
Really appreciate it !

Sorry, I got the pricing wrong... It is $1400.
Is that a fair/reasonable price to pay for this diamond?

Beautiful stone!

My only suggestion is that sense you are comfortable going to I, Id probably would consider those to either save money or go up in size.

JA has some 0.5 ct Is but I'm on my phone so I can't post them easily.

I agree...does WF have a setting that you like?

In that size (well cut) stone an I will look pretty white.

I am a little paranoid about the SI's.. I would be constantly checking to see if it was indeed eye-clean..
I think I wouldn't mind paying for the "mind-clean" feeling that the VS's give :)

The second one there is VVS, AND cheaper

Also, hits over 5.1 mark and has a rediculously fabulous idealscope. And the table is small for lots of fire! Personally I'd choose the hpd

@Niel:
That's a beautiful diamond you've suggested !!

Is the ACA a better cut than the cut of the diamond you suggested?
Which would translate to more sparkle?

Thanks for all the advice!!

Personally based off the idealscope I would think the HPD would perform best, but I suspect the quality of both is high enough your eyes may not see a difference.

I prefer the HPD just because the IS looks better, it faces up large for the CTW, I prefer small table( which should in theory translate to more fire), its cheaper. And the color of the ACA is AGS greaded and the HPD is GIA, so I'd bet you would not see a difference in color, As AGS grades a twinge softer in color. And the clarity is better, which you find important.

But could they do a nice setting for you??

You picked a gorgeous stone! WF has always been stellar to work with so call them and tell them your price range and ask if the recommend something better! (Bigger?)

@Aprilbaby,

Actually I have super skinny fingers (ring size ~4.25), and I am afraid that anything bigger than a 0.5ct stone may look huge on my finger..
That's why I am looking for this small a solitaire.

On that note, does anyone have recommendations for settings for a small sized stone on a small sized finger?
Thanks !!

OK so I'm assuming here, possibly incorrectly , that you have a nice budget for your setting, sense you're choosing the size off preference, not price.

If I'm right I would do this

http://www.dvatche.com/index.php?page=collection&catID=2,18&startRow=6&id=158

The 1513.

And both Whiteflash and HPD sell vatche apparently, so whichever you decide you could go that route.

I think any vatche would be pretty.

@Niel:
Oh wow ! What a beautiful setting !!! that's a great suggestion.. Thanks !! :)
