It is GIA rated. Does anything good/bad jump out from these numbers? what is fair price?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

That diamond scores 1.7 on the HCA scale.
Anything under 2 is worth looking into.

Can you get and post Idealscope and ASET pics?

Here are two close diamonds I found in the PS search engine to give you an idea of prices for new online diamonds.

If this is used and being sold by a private party I'd offer about half.

Hi av8r

The diamond has potential, is it for sale with a store jeweller, online or private party/ auction?

how would i take and post the pictures?

i looked at the Idealscope link here..

since the stone is mounted in a solitare setting, would it have to be removed to take the picture and then re-set.
would i need a special camera to take a picture thru the Idealscope?

-and is all that worth it? im not in the diamond business.. just wanting to buy one one ring.

It is only $25, compared to the amount you will pay for the stone, do you think it is significant?

You can use the scope with the ring mounted.

wow.
smart a$$

i stated that i had looked up the idealscope.

i was asking about if i had to have stone removed and remounted and needed to buy a special camera so i could post the pictures for the person that asked to see them.

thanks for answering at least one part of my question.

do i owe you $25? or was the response free....

SO you really read through the idealscope page? Then what is the this link to then?

http://www.ideal-scope.com/1.taking_IS_photos.asp

Is that any special from a normal camera? It clearly shows how to take a IS image of a mounted stone with the idealscope. If you are asking for advice, be humble. Piece of work you are.

Stone-cold gives very helpful and thorough advice, so no need to be snippy...we're all just trying to help and want you to get a good stone!

Now, the diamond's angles should be ok, but it's up to you how thorough you want to be. You can view the mounted stone under the Idealscope and use a normal camera. Good luck!

i stand behind what i wrote..

you were being a smart a$$.

thanks to all for their input.

av8r, good luck with the proposal! (I'm assuming you're a guy)

And you are being a insulting, ungrateful jerk. I answered your questions and I got called names. You obviously never read the idealscope site thoroughly. Did I make any assumptions on you? There are other options around other than to get an idealscope yourself.

Wow I seldom comment in this section, but that was down right rude and insulting

Stone Cold is always helpful...wow

Wow, av8r, that was really rude - great way to make sure few others touch this thread - and that Stone-cold doesn't come back! You've just done your diamond hunt a huge disservice.

I think an IS is a great investment, the diamond has potential judging by just the rounded GIA numbers, and images will confirm performance. I wouldn't want to pay for VVS clarity. Feel free to send a fifty my way.

wow, rough crowd. some people are new to this site, the major players on site, diamond buying, and terms used, etc. no biggie.

anyway, my diamond is pretty similar to the one you describe.
it''s 1.51 carats (v. close)
cut: excellent (same)
color: I (same)
clarity: SI1 (worse)
polish: exc (same)
symm: vg (same)
flour: none (same)
i typed my diamond''s proportions into the HCA thing (new to me) and it came back a 2.4, so i guess yours has better proportions,
but i think mine is gorgeous, and it sounds like this one is as well! my fiance bought mine at a store in nyc''s diamond district for $10,250.

good luck!

Someone comes here asking perfect strangers to help him out for not other reason than they like to do it, and then insults them for their time?? That is beyond me.

Kitty It isn''t about major players, it is about being civil.

read what i wrote.. and what is responses were..
he was in fact being a smart a$$ and insulting.. and he knows it.
and i stand exactly behind what i said.
i never said i read every bit of info on the IS. i said i checked out the link.
i was poilite in my 1st post and appreciated the help.
my questions were how i could go out of my way to post pictures for someone that wanted to see them, not beciause i wanted them. i was willing to spend my time and money so they could see what they asked. and he chose to reply with some flip answer.
he can earn my respect.. because he certainly wasnt repsectful to me. i dont need smart a$$ answers.. and look at who called who what.
to the rest that provided help.. like i said before thanks..
to stone cold. save your breath.

Thanks Kitty..
This one is 10k so looks like its in ballpark..
-and your is truely a stunning ring.. posted a comment back on your orig posting about it.

I''m probably going to get chewed for saying this, but the nature of my personality leads me to say it anyway!

Stone cold first said....

"It is only $25, compared to the amount you will pay for the stone, do you think it is significant?"

This comment comes across very smart A like. Kind of like when the jeweler told me that I had pudgy fingers and shouldn''t stack bands. I don''t think it was meant to hurt in either case, but it did hit nerves. Especially for somebody who put themselves out there by asking for advice. Most people don''t do that (as evident by all the MAUL store rings floating around). Though, boys will be boys and continue to provoke each other...

As for your stone, if you think it''s beautiful, a good price (sounds like it is - I couldn''t find a VVS1 stone for that price when I did a search), and they have an excellent return policy then I''d say give it a shot.
