Hey Guys,

I have been doing some research for a stone for an engagement ring and have found the following... I don't know much, but from the some online tools, this may seem like a decent priced stone?

Round Brilliant
1.02 Carat
I Colour
VS2
Cut (Ex)
GIA Cert (Don't have the GIA # so dont know how to complete a HCA test...)
Depth (60.2)
Table (59)
Polish (VG)
Sym (Ex)
Faint Blue Flor

6.5x6.52x3.92

Price USD (5,042)

It seems its cut to its weight, but I truly dont know much about diamonds. A local jewler gave me this information. Need to get back to him and put a deposit on it...

Thanks guys, and sorry for my lack of knowlege. I have been trying to learn, but when I think I know some information I read more on here and find how little I still know.

Welcome! You have to have all the measurements from the GIA report for us to help you. We'd need the crown angle and pavilion angle in addition to those you already listed. Then we can compute the HCA score. That is the minimum. It is always best if you can access an idealscope image as well. The price is good for the specs listed, but I see stones listed for close to that online. So it all depends on whether it is one of the better GIA Excellent stones or not.

The table is bigger than most on PS recommend. Were you able to visually compare this diamond to others? If so, how did it look compared to others?

2nd what DS said. Need more info and an idealscope image. That said, it is a "60/60" stone (depth and table are both 60%) which some people like, and in itself isn't bad (I have one) - but due to the large table it will likely have less fire (colored light return) than a traditionally proportioned stone. But we need more info - can't say a thing about it's cut quality yet.

Here's a brief article about 60/60 stones: https://www.pricescope.com/wiki/diamonds/60-60-proportioned-diamond
