My husband prefers white gold and I'm thinking of having the set made in Palladium or Platinum, as I don't like the maintenance of white gold. I had a set in WG before and had to get it plated every 6 months, at least. I think my body is highly acidic or something.

But before I spend the money, just wondering what y'all think?

When I took it in for inspection, the gal asked if I wanted it plated, as she said making the ring white would make the diamonds sparkle and pop more.

I think it is lovely they way it is but that is up to you. Make sure you do your research on platinum before taking the plunge because platinum requires up keep as well. Replating every 6 months is typical for whitegold.

I think your rings are very pretty - the contrast between the yellow gold and the diamonds is beautiful. I would not consider rhodium plating the gold though. If you need replating of white gold often, you'll have more trouble trying to keep the rhodium plating in good shape.

Did you choose the yellow gold? Do you love it? I really don't think anyone else's opinion matters! It is beautiful as it is. I would think about the other jewelry you wear and whether you like yellow or white metals better with your coloring.

+1 on what Diamondseeker said...Your rings look fantastic in yellow gold and if it's you who chose the specific metal and color don't change your set... Also, again as Diamondseeker said, you need to keep under consideration that your set will look better with the rest of your jewelry if they're all in the same color....So if you have lots of jewelry in yellow gold definitely don't change your set...
I really love it the ay it is....

I think it's lovely! Personally I prefer white gold, platinum, and palladium to yellow gold but that is because I think it looks better on me and nothing I own isyellow gold. You should go with what you like more!

Your rings are beautiful. If you like yellow gold I would keep them they way they are. I think the saleswoman said that because white gold is more what is in fashion right now. The diamonds look lovely against the yellow gold.

I absolutely love that set in yellow. It's stunning and looks so vintage. If you want it to be in white, I would certainly say do the research because I am personally of the opinion that yellow gold is the easiest to keep up....you don't really have to do anything and it's incredibly classic.

Then again I'm a die hard yellow gold person! It's a stunning set, by the way.

I think your rings are stunning in yellow gold. The contrast of the yellow makes the diamonds pop beautifully.

If you've found in the past that you had to replate white gold every 6 months, then I think you'll have to replate these rings even more often, as the yg is going to show through the rhodium more quickly than the wg did. What if you get a stand alone anniversary ring in a white metal? You can wear it as an alternate to your set, or as a right hand ring.

Ooops, just reread your original post, it doesn't sound like you would be going the plating route, anyway. I know you said your husband prefers white metals, do you?

I voted that it looks lovely either way. I would recommend against plating your rings because once the rhodium rubs off, it will be more obvious than it rubbing of on white gold.

Have you considered making a 2nd set, or buying an anniversary ring to wear instead of the YG set? I decided to do this because my original set is YG and I did not choose it. When I reset my engagement ring in YG to match the wedding ring, I found I still missed having a white metal set.

I agree 100% but rhodium plating the ring would give an idea of whether or not she'd rather have white without a major investment. Yes, it's not a good choice for daily wear, so if she preferred white she'd be better off resetting. But for $40 or so to have the ring turned white....may not be such a bad choice. Then as it starts wearing you can bring it back in and have the process reversed.

If you truly prefer white metal OP then it would be a good time to alter it because you'd have a better idea and it would hopefully reduce future regrets!
