Hey guys first time poster, but I''ve been lurking for a while. First off I have to say this site is awesome and has taught me so much about diamonds. It has made my search for an engagement ring much easier and a lot less stressfull.

Anyways I think I found the stone. Let me know what you all think of the stats.

Round
.95
6.32 - 6.36 x 3.89 mm
F
VS1
Precision of Cut: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Polish: Excellent
Girdle: Medium to Slightly Thick (Faceted)
Culet: None
Flouresence: none
Table: 57%
Depth: 61.4%
Crown Angle: 34.5
Pavillion Angle: 40.8
Star: 50%
Lower Half Length: 80%
*See Attached HCA Report

***The only thing that bothers me is the medium to slightly thich girdle. Is that something I should be worried about and should I try and find an identical stone with a medium girdle.

Thanks for the help guys.

girdle is fine.

Like Julie N. said, don''t worry about the girdle. The stone looks good to me, although I am no expert.

The girdle should be fine - I would worry more about a very thin girdle (chipping) than a slightly thick one. Often there is a slight variation in the girdle as a function of the way it is cut and the way the facets meet at the girdle. Is this a virtual stone, or one you have seen in a store? Could you post IS pics? If it is from a vendor you trust, you can ask them to look at the girdle and let you know where the ''slightly thick'' portions are.

I am buying the ring from Tiffanys so I''m not too worried about buying the ring sight unseen especially with their return policy.

I know a lot of people on here do not like Tiffanys and they think people are just buying the name, but that''s not the reason I am buying a ring from them.

My girlfriend and I have been looking at rings for a few weeks now and we were having a hard time finding a Tiffany Style Setting that she liked. Well I figured I would take her into a Tiffanys and see what she thought about the true Tiffany setting. Anyways when she tried it on I saw her face light up like nothing I had seen before since we started looking for a ring. She then made me promise I wouldn''t get her a Tiffany''s ring because she felt bad because of how expensive they were, but she said she definitely wanted a setting identical to the Tiffany Setting.

Well I searched everywhere for the true Tiffany setting and I couldn''t find anything that closely resembled it. I looked into having a custom setting made, but by the time I did that I was up near the cost of a Tiffany''s Ring.

So I decided being that this is a once in a lifetime chance that I would totally surprise her with the ring of her dreams. Don''t laugh I know it''s only a carat, but that''s all she wanted due to her tiny fingers.

You are a sweetheart!
Just FYI, Superbcert does make what is often considered to be the best Tiff replica. You can file that away and use it (or not use it!) if needed at any point (maybe you will have a buddy at some point that will need to know that info and you will have it filed away for him!)

I did find that setting while I was searching for knock offs. It does look pretty close, but I''ve read on here or another site that the quality still doesn''t compare to the true Tiffany Setting. Thanks for the heads up though.

A Tiffany''s ring with an ideal cut F VS1 carat diamond. I think she is one lucky lady!!!

So the medium to slightly thick girdle is good. What do you all think about the other stats?

How will a .95 stone look compared to a 1.00-1.05 stone? I know you could never tell the difference just by looking at a .95, but do you think if you put a .95 next to a 1.00 with a similar table, depth, crown, and pavilion could you tell the difference? Is it worth it to spend a lot more to get a full carat or would you save some $$$$ and stick with a .95?

Thanks

Do you fly Flygirl?

I have been flying single engine planes for about 7 years now. Just like diamonds, it is a great money sink!

Most likely not.

And no, do not spend more to get over the carat mark. Visually it will not help. And it''s close enough that she can say it''s a carat.

You''re a sweetie to get her this.

Hi,
Thought I''d chime in because I was faced with a similar situation about 6 months ago. My fiancé loved the Tiffany setting, and I ended up getting it a SuperbCert. It is about as exact as you can get. The quality is very high. We''ve even had it cleaned by the Tiffany people (who thought it was their own) while we were looking at eternity bands for the wedding.

IMO, on a 1ct ring it doesn''t make a lot of sense to buy a Tiffany setting, when you can get the same quality. Having witnessed apx 10000 people comment on my fiancé''s ring over the past 6 months, I''d say this is their initial reaction every time:

1. The ring is gorgeous
2. That stone is huge
3. It really sparkles
4. Is that a D?

I know cut is god on this site, and I subscribed to it when buying my fiancé''s ring, but I think size is undervalued. 98% of the people that look at the ring, notice size above all—and I think that’s exactly what your girlfriend will do as well.

Plus, if you want to get the matching eternity band, the Tiffany one lines up perfectly with the SC setting… I guess I’m just saying on your budget, you could get a almost exact replica of the setting, with a stone that is just as nice, but 20% bigger. =)
