Hello, I am new to this forum, and boy, I must say, I love it here! I didn''t think it possible for people to think about jewelry as much as me... but here we are! :)
Anyways, I notice there have been a few topics already about people searching for paper thin bands (under 2mm), and I have gone to look at some of the links with a little disappointment for how much money some people are asking for 1mm plain gold bands.
My question is, it seems that extrememly thin bands are now really in vogue... especially micro pave diamond rings, why is it almost impossible to find anything under 2mm for a plain wedding band? If you hit all the obvious online jewelers, all their plain bands start at 2mm... why don''t they offer 1.5mm?
The coolest/thinnest micro pave ring I''ve seen so far, was at Tiffany''s last month... they had a 1mm 18k diamond band (not even an eternity), for almost 1500 dollars! Ouch. Gorgeous, yes... but still. :)
I wonder if anyone has found a site where they had plain 1-1.5mm gold bands... maybe for even under 100 dollars! Am I asking for the moon?

Welcome, Susan! The reason you don''t see a lot of bands under 2mm is that it makes them very fragile and more likely to become mishapen or even break. 2mm is really pretty thin. But there are some out there. Here are some examples with diamonds from Beverley K:

I think you''d just have to call jeweler to ask about plain gold bands as those are not as likely to be on a website. I am sure you could easily have them made unless jewelers think they are too fragile.

Ah yes... fragile/bendable... that is understandable... but since when do we women ever listen to that kind of logic?

Thanks for the links! I''ll continue to enjoy this great forum. I spent almost an hour reading that super "royal jewelry" thread! Awesome!

Have you tried Leon Mege? He does 1.3mm diamond eternity rings in platinum and I was quoted a good price a few months ago!

I''m saving up for a pair of platinum diamond bands and a rose gold and pink diamond band, but having just bought a ruby ring, this is going to be on the back burner until later....

Are you looking for a plain gold band or one with pave?

I have a 1-1.5mm plain white gold band; have had it for over 6 years and have had no problems with it. The vendor had bands available that were thinner than mine as well.

Hi Tacori,

I bought it from a local jeweller in Toronto. Here''s the website: http://www.manata.com/home.html

They don''t have these rings on their website as far as I can tell, but you can definitely call and ask. Lemme know if you need any other info.
