Indeed it does go closest to the heart, however this pic is from the actual ceremony. I didnt really think I was supposed to take off her E ring before putting the band on her finger?

Though it sounds like this was just a matter of the ceremony circumstances, people wear bands both ways (on out- or inside). Rachael Ray is a good example of a celeb who wears her band on the outside.
