So excited that my upgraded wedding ring arrived! I was married in Cancun in February 2011, and loved my princess cut 1.39 I VSS1 from Blue Nile. This August I'll turn 50 (!) and will celebrate our 10-year anniversary in February. Before the 'Rona, we were planning for a trip of a lifetime to the Galapagos Islands. However, as the summer went on we decided to pause our planning as it's unlikely we'll feel totally comfortable planning a huge trip in Feb. So I got the idea to upgrade my ring and DH was totally supportive! Since the original ring is from BN we were pretty locked in so I investigated diamonds from their upgrade program. I picked out my ring and *afterward* got obsessed with diamond research and found this site.
I wish I found PS earlier but I have loved looking at all of the bling and appreciated all of the amazing knowledge!
Deets: I loved my original wedding ring, 1.39 I VSS1, size 4.25 platinum with half engraved micropave ring (4.5) soldered to the milgrain wedding band. I can't believe it, but I was so happy to keep the original setting and the princess cut. I toyed with getting an emerald cut, cushion or radiant, but kept returning to the princess, and I love it. I'm a simple person and my wedding ring is the only bling about me...but I was so excited to get a bigger solitaire! I was very happy with the "I" color as I think I'm a bit color sensitive, and I went back and forth about whether I could go down in color. But in the end I decided that I wanted a little bit of a bigger stone and would try the J. BN offers free exchanges within 30 days so I had an "I" 2.2 stone that I could exchange. But now that it is here I think I love it! Here is the original:

Blue Nile: I have really loved working with Blue Nile. (Although if I had known about PS earlier I might have encouraged DH differently!) Hubby got the original ring there, and then we got the engraved milgrain wedding band from them. A few years later, I purchased a second engraved milgrain band so I could stack them...but it never seemed totally right. Also, if I solder the 3rd band on, I'm afraid I won't be able to take it off regularly (I usually take it off in the morning to do my hair etc.) After we decided to do the upgrade, I made the online order and received return authorization instructions. I sent the ring Fed Ex on Friday June 26, and they received it the Tuesday following. Then I received emails saying it would be completed and shipped on Friday July 10th and I would receive on Monday July 13th. On July 10th at 6pm I received an email saying it was delayed...I didn't hear anything and finally called on Tuesday and they said it would be shipped no later than the next day. It was indeed shipped on July 15 and I received it the next day! I had the appraisal report, receipt, and new GIA certificate, and all looked beautiful!

The diamond: further details on the diamond are 2.3, J, VS11, size 4.5 platinum, very good cut, excellent polish and symmetry, faint fluorescence, depth 73.5, table 74, measurements 7.14 x 7.08 x 5.21 mm. I was very worried about going from an I to a J color as I think I'm color sensitive (but again since I don't have any other good jewelry I'm not sure). I've had it for over a day now and happy to report it appears as icy white as my "I" did. Although, in some light, I do feel like I see a bit of warmth to it. I'm pretty sure I'll love it, but definitely going to check it out in the next week to see how it appears in different lights. I absolutely love the fire and sparkle. I'm not as sophisticated as most of the PS'ers but this seems like a lovely stone to me. I was worried the J would look like this in real life:

But in reality it only looks like this in some of the pictures. If I have it against a gray background I think I can see a little yellow...but not sure if it is my imagination. I think only the most color sensitive people will need to worry about a J. Here is what it looks like most of the time (icy white):

Here it is with the 3rd band, what do you think?

Overall I'm stunned by the ring. I have some guilty feelings about spending this much to upgrade in our crazy new pandemic world, but the hubby has been so supportive and it is really bringing me so much joy when I look at it and think about our enduring bond. Hope you enjoyed the post and hope this helps you PS'ers making some decisions for awesome bling!
