So excited that my upgraded wedding ring arrived! I was married in Cancun in February 2011, and loved my princess cut 1.39 I VSS1 from Blue Nile. This August I'll turn 50 (!) and will celebrate our 10-year anniversary in February. Before the 'Rona, we were planning for a trip of a lifetime to the Galapagos Islands. However, as the summer went on we decided to pause our planning as it's unlikely we'll feel totally comfortable planning a huge trip in Feb. So I got the idea to upgrade my ring and DH was totally supportive! Since the original ring is from BN we were pretty locked in so I investigated diamonds from their upgrade program. I picked out my ring and *afterward* got obsessed with diamond research and found this site. :geek: I wish I found PS earlier but I have loved looking at all of the bling and appreciated all of the amazing knowledge!

Deets: I loved my original wedding ring, 1.39 I VSS1, size 4.25 platinum with half engraved micropave ring (4.5) soldered to the milgrain wedding band. I can't believe it, but I was so happy to keep the original setting and the princess cut. I toyed with getting an emerald cut, cushion or radiant, but kept returning to the princess, and I love it. I'm a simple person and my wedding ring is the only bling about me...but I was so excited to get a bigger solitaire! I was very happy with the "I" color as I think I'm a bit color sensitive, and I went back and forth about whether I could go down in color. But in the end I decided that I wanted a little bit of a bigger stone and would try the J. BN offers free exchanges within 30 days so I had an "I" 2.2 stone that I could exchange. But now that it is here I think I love it! Here is the original:

Blue Nile: I have really loved working with Blue Nile. (Although if I had known about PS earlier I might have encouraged DH differently!) Hubby got the original ring there, and then we got the engraved milgrain wedding band from them. A few years later, I purchased a second engraved milgrain band so I could stack them...but it never seemed totally right. Also, if I solder the 3rd band on, I'm afraid I won't be able to take it off regularly (I usually take it off in the morning to do my hair etc.) After we decided to do the upgrade, I made the online order and received return authorization instructions. I sent the ring Fed Ex on Friday June 26, and they received it the Tuesday following. Then I received emails saying it would be completed and shipped on Friday July 10th and I would receive on Monday July 13th. On July 10th at 6pm I received an email saying it was delayed...I didn't hear anything and finally called on Tuesday and they said it would be shipped no later than the next day. It was indeed shipped on July 15 and I received it the next day! I had the appraisal report, receipt, and new GIA certificate, and all looked beautiful!

The diamond: further details on the diamond are 2.3, J, VS11, size 4.5 platinum, very good cut, excellent polish and symmetry, faint fluorescence, depth 73.5, table 74, measurements 7.14 x 7.08 x 5.21 mm. I was very worried about going from an I to a J color as I think I'm color sensitive (but again since I don't have any other good jewelry I'm not sure). I've had it for over a day now and happy to report it appears as icy white as my "I" did. Although, in some light, I do feel like I see a bit of warmth to it. I'm pretty sure I'll love it, but definitely going to check it out in the next week to see how it appears in different lights. I absolutely love the fire and sparkle. I'm not as sophisticated as most of the PS'ers but this seems like a lovely stone to me. I was worried the J would look like this in real life:

But in reality it only looks like this in some of the pictures. If I have it against a gray background I think I can see a little yellow...but not sure if it is my imagination. I think only the most color sensitive people will need to worry about a J. Here is what it looks like most of the time (icy white):

Here it is with the 3rd band, what do you think?

Overall I'm stunned by the ring. I have some guilty feelings about spending this much to upgrade in our crazy new pandemic world, but the hubby has been so supportive and it is really bringing me so much joy when I look at it and think about our enduring bond. Hope you enjoyed the post and hope this helps you PS'ers making some decisions for awesome bling!

Well I for one think it's absolutely beautiful :kiss2:

The whole look is so classic on you & you wear the bigger stone so well - it's clearly very at home on your lovely hand. I don't see enough tint in any of your pictures for it fo bother me & I'm super colour sensitive. I think the faint flouro is just the right amount to brighten it perfectly.

As for the third band, yep, I love that on you too! I would be hesitant to solder it to the other two if I'm honest, as I like to have options. The heat bothers my hands these days & I like the choice to flip my eternity to the right. But if this sort of thing doesn't affect you & you are comfy in all different temps with the three together, then fill your boots!

Gorgeous upgrade! Enjoy & wear in health!

Its beautiful and looks perfect on you! I really love the milgrain setting you put it in too!

Congratulations on your beautiful upgrade! Hoping you can celebrate with a wonderful trip sometime (?) in the future!

It’s stunning!!
Congratulations on your upgrade!
Never feel guilty about bringing joy during a time of so much gloom and doom!!
More photos, please!
Happy 50th Bday, happy 10th Anniversary, and May this bling brighten your day for the next 10+ years to come!
Wear it in great health & happiness!!!
Please post this on my thread “Bling in Quarantine 2020”, once you make your final decision! ;)2

I will reiterate that I am now a square diamond fan literally for the first time ever. This set is stunning! Do not solder, please! And you seem to have picked one heck of a nice stone! Enjoy and congratulations!

So very pretty! Congratulations on your upgrade. I love all three together but I enjoy symmetry like that! Beautiful set!

Congratulations on your beautiful upgrade! Wear it in health and happiness!

What a beautiful ring! I have princess cut too which I love. There is something so striking about the crisp square outline and the symmetry of the patterns under the table which you can really enjoy in a larger size like your new upgrade. I think it looks great in the J colour. Enjoy your beautiful sparkly!

This is a stunning classic! Another vote here to not solder—that way you can switch things up a bit. I don’t see the difference in color either. I hope you keep it as is. Gorgeous!

I, too, am upgrading during this unprecedented time, but I feel it symbolizes the strength and love we need in our lives. Don’t feel guilty.

Really beautiful! Congratulations on the ring, wear it in good health! Congratulations and best wishes for your big milestones!!

Is there no way to edit my post or title? I don't know why my brain kept turning VVS1 to VSS1...

Yes, exactly this! Thank you!

Wow!! Beautiful upgrade!!
a J colour- wow!!!

So, so pretty!

It's beautiful! Congratulations on your upgrade, Happy Anniversary and Happy Birthday!

That's beautiful! I love a nice, crisp princess!

I LOVE your set! I'm a huge fan and customer of Blue Nile. :) Personally, I love the three rings together. Gorgeous diamond and wedding set! Congratulations!

Wow! I've always been a princess cut gal myself, even though they're technically not as popular now as they were int he 90s. I have to say, I ADORE your set! I love how you have the engagement ring stacked with your two bands, one on top and one on bottom. It's truly classic.

Also, you got a great deal with Blue Nile! I have seen some diamonds from Blue Nile that just don't have that 'wow' factor. Yours totally does! Congrats on your upgrade! <3

Gorgeous!

Your set is very pretty! I especially love the look of your set with the 3rd band.
And I quite agree with AlexT’s suggestion of not soldering your rings together. It’s nice to have options, esp on days when you feel like wearing less bling on your fingers.

Congratulations on your upgrade! It’s beautiful! I love the third band added to your set.
