Hello!

I'll start by saying thank you to all the wonderful contributors on this forum! I have learned so much from all of you.

Background: My husband and I were married pretty young (I was only 21!), and at the time, our finances were being fully allocated to purchasing and renovating our first home. My husband gave me a choice- either I could buy a very modest diamond engagement ring right away OR I could wait 3-5 years and purchase a much nicer ring. Well, I chose the second option, and the time to buy that ring is approaching!

As I've waited (not so patiently :saint: ) for the time to come, I've done much research and thank goodness, I found Pricescope. I want to be completely ready when he says the time has come to make the purchase, so I can say I want THIS type of diamond in THAT setting

So far, I have decided on an AVC in the 0.75 - 1.00 size range. As for settings, we both LOVE the Sholdt designs. I am particularly interested in this setting: http://sholdtdesign.com/Twisp/R489.htm

If anyone has that particular Sholdt setting IRL, could you please post a picture? I would especially love to see a profile view. I am having a hard time picturing what it would look like IRL. We recently visited a retailer that carries Sholdt, but they did not have this setting. Although there were many other pretty ones that confirmed my love of Sholdt.

Also, any opinions on what an AVC would look like the posted setting are welcome. I am aware that the AVC is an antique cut and the setting I am considering is modern. So opinions on what that may look like would be great as well.

Thank you in advance for your expertise! :appl:

You might want to hit report concern and have this move to RT just because I think you will get more responses.

I don't have much to add except from the advise I received on PS about my 3 stone. It is with 3 lower colored OEC"s (in the O/P range) and they were set in a fairly modern 3 stone setting (a la Yssie's ring). I was very nervous because I wasn't sure how the overall look would be mixing the two but I was very happy in the end. I think old cuts look amazing in simple streamlined settings so I'm sure your AVC would be gorgeous in it!

SB621-

Thanks for sharing your personal experience of pairing antique diamonds with a modern setting! I'm glad someone else has gone there and been happy with the result.

I will move this thread to RT. Thanks!
