I am so happy and excited I can hardly type! (Plus there's this huge, blinding "distraction" of fire, brilliance, and scintillation

at the keyboard...

)

I got the diamond this morning. I opened the package and fell in love.

I am not kidding! (I thought those other two stones had "spoken to me", but guess what? I realized I didn't know "spoken to me"!)

It was so incredibly gorgeous, it took my breath away.

I took it to my jeweler and he couldn't believe it either. He looked at it long and hard through both the loupe and the microscope. He kept saying, "This is a VS-2?? It looks like a VVS to me!" He said he thought VS-2 is "way too harsh a grade" for this stone. He was so impressed with it. He kept saying, "It's such a beauty! It's perfect!"

The plan was for me to compare this stone to the 1.51 he (the jeweler) had for the final decision. He did get his out, but he said, "Lynn - there's nothing to compare! Your new stone is definitely more beautiful, it has a larger diameter, a one-month-old cert, laser inscription, and it costs less! It's a no-brainer!" And he was right. So he proudly set it, and now the ring is finally finished and on my finger. >>

I still can't believe it's mine.

You all know I love and respect my jeweler. He truly is one of the "good guys". I will never forget how he has treated me through all of this.

I would also like to say thanks to all of you who were so kind, helpful and supportive to me throughout this whole experience. The posts, e-mails and PM's were so appreciated. There is so much talent, expertise, knowledge and kindness on these boards. I feel honored to have had the privilege of "tapping" into it.

I have a gorgeous, perfect ring that I will cherish every day of my life - and I owe it to all of you. Thank you all so very much.

Lynn

PS Just for the record... here are the "specs" again...

It sounds like you've got an amazing ring and stone. I can't wait to see pictures.

P.S. Just be careful driving around town. I know it'll be tough, but make sure you try to keep at least one eye on the road, and not on your new ring.

Congratulations Lynn! It sounds like your hard work paid off, and you handled it well with your jeweler (what a guy!).

Now for the picture posting!

No, not an "upgrade"... a first diamond!

Actually, an anniversary gift from my sweetie.

We were married VERY young (teenagers!

) and had a baby right away. I never got an e-ring (simply couldn't afford one!) Now that our two children are grown and educated, we own our home, and we've done all the "responsible" things...

my husband said it was time to get the diamond I have always wished for.

This ring symbolizes all our years together and how hard we have worked to make our marriage a success. It is VERY special to me!
love.gif
And, believe me, it was worth the wait!

THANKS for the sweet note! And believe me, I am very anxious and eager to post photos, too!

There have been a few stumbling blocks though -- my digital camera just stinks with close-ups! It's so irritating and frustrating. But I read somewhere about trying to use a loupe or a magnifying glass over the camera's lens, so I'm going to try that as soon as... (and here's reason #2!)... I get the ring back from Dave Atlas & Co! It is currently there getting independently appraised. I expect them to ship it back in a day or two.

But I haven't forgotten, and I PROMISE to post pictures just as soon as possible!

Thanks again for thinking of me!

Lynn
