Hello Rocky Talk Friends,

The search has begun for a 1.5-1.7 carat oval diamond. I have set a budget of 12k for the diamond. With GOG being local, I would like some other online references prior to making a purchase in-person. At 1.7, I am hoping for a h-g color with a vs1 clarity in the 12k range. Below are some of the diamonds I have been looking at.

As you can see, my search has been closer to the 1.7 range. Could someone please provide some feedback on the diamonds posted above. Am I headed in the right direction? Quality and cut are obviously are important so if someone thinks a quality 1.7 at 12k is implausible please let me know. Thank you for any feedback.

Here are a few worth considering...note that you want to look more at the length, width than the carat weight to see what faces
up biggest.

https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/oval-cut/1.61-carat-h-color-vvs1-clarity-sku-2219244 longer than 1.7, little bit of darkness though the center (arrow)
https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/oval-cut/1.70-carat-h-color-si1-clarity-sku-2070421 not bad
https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/oval-cut/1.53-carat-g-color-vs2-clarity-sku-2425362 a very bight loooking stone
https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/oval-cut/1.50-carat-d-color-vs1-clarity-sku-2436741 another bright stone

Edit...you could drop down to SI1 as long as long as it is "eye-clean" to get more stone for your budget.

TYTY, thank you for the response. I would have no problem going down in carat weight if the diamond appeared larger (1.5 or so). I would like to try and stay at VS1 or VS2 in clarity. I would imagine that GOG will be able to steer me in the right direction, however I would like to get my price points down prior to going there in person.

Oval stones (fancy cuts stones) are all about the cut. It is not easy to find nice cut ovals so when you limit yourself
to VS2 and up you are knocking out stones that could be nicely cut (return light well, sparkly) and eye-clean. I've listed
3 stones that were in the VS2+ range so that should give you an idea cost wise and an idea of what to look for as far as
faceting and good light return.

GOG does videos (I think you might have to put some money down). The videos are great tools when picking fancy cuts like ovals.
When you get a video...post so we can have a look and point things out to you.

You did let GOG know in advance that you are coming in and looking for Ovals right?
