The Round Cut

Am I the only one who thinks that a round cut can bring out better quality in a stone? Without edges cutting off the intricacies, in my opinion, the designs cut into a stone can show better.

Ideal cut rounds often out perform other shapes for light performance, yes. Hearts and arrows is the top cut for ideal rounds. You can get some fancies with great light return, but that will mean a specialty cut. Examples are the August Vintage stones from Good Old Gold which presently includes Old European rounds (AVR) and antique cushions (AVC). Octavias are brilliant cut asschers currently sold through Good Old Gold and Diamonds by Lauren. Victor Canera carries his own line of antique cushions and rounds.

The one thing Pricescope did for me early on was to help me appreciate well cut stones!
