Me, today, as I pulled weeds and spread DE and snail bait around my plants which earwigs, snails and slugs treat as their endless salad bar.

So, I'm not showing these because they're impressive- I show them because I'm excited they are there at all. The first pic is our one of our Mock Oranges . It's eight feet tall after I cut it back. It took 7 YEARS for this shrub to flower, and only two branches did  :lol-2: But dammit, there's a flower!
The second is my Belle of Woking clem. on the barn. I thought she died last year as a first year...but she came back! and one of her buds opened and passed! Small victories!

I'm embarrassed by how much I need to weed. I did it 2 weeks ago and my goodness....

But hey good news, my plumeria tree is very happy, unlike last year when it lost every single leaf and flower for strange unknown reasons! A few more dry days and I should see more blooms lets hope.

The neighbors mango tree.( which drops fruit in my hard for all the fruit rats...) I cut my mango tree back severely last year as it was causing some issue with electrical lines. good thing I don't really like mango!

No blooms/fruit from the soursop tree this year though it looks very happy.

I know the struggle! Every year I threaten the shrubs. I may just get some clematis or vining roses and plant them into the mocks and be done with it.
Maybe more Josephine clems (which I have given up weeding around) they get twenty feet high so you're looking up most of the time anyway  .

After a 6 week wait, Angus and Fergus made it home today from England. Fergus lost an eyebrow but there was no other damage.

Ha! I love them. I would also hang on the stoop with them at least once a day.

Bird nest in the grapes and a fat ol'bumble in the Menarda. Man, you should see the bees!

The coolest thing happened yesterday. I have a hummingbird boyfriend named Blimpet who comes to see me and hang out every time I go outside. DH and I were weeding the gardens and he brought his wife to meet us and make sure we weren't screwing anything up! I want pictures so badly but he's scared of the phone. If it comes up, he peaces out.

I found a single soursop this year. I will spare you images (died on the vine, it looks pretty gross) I didn't find until I cut the tree back some. (its either I do it or the line guys do it and hack it to death) was sad to see that but, at least I got fruit...

Thank you @violet3. It’s Sandy Hook Bay. We’re right across from NYC and in fact can sort of see our home there from our home here. :)

Whoa, you all have green thumbs!!!! I loved reading through this.

I have a garden this year! I've never had one before, and my husband grows them at his restaurants, so he's teaching me how to do it. I bought my grandparents' old townhome, so no yard to speak of. But, there's a little plot of ground next to my stairs that my grandma used to plant as a garden. I've never done anything with it, and it had this enormous, crazy old bush right in the middle of it, so my sister and I dug it out and planted a garden in memory of my grandmother! It's been a lot of fun, and I haven't killed anything yet, which I can only say is a miracle. I have one tomato plant that is taking over the whole thing - yummy! I also have cucumber that I'm trying to make climb my stairs to keep on growing (but has yet to produce even one so far), lavender, and lots of flowers. I've really enjoyed doing this - I have done deck gardens each year, but never gotten "in the dirt," before. Here's the June 8 - July 9 photos - it really took off!

The little fence is to keep people from running it over - the two spots out front are public parking spaces. So far, it's only been run over twice, which is a win!

I just wanted to say that I GREW this lunch from yesterday! This is most impressive for me - my deck garden did get two cucumbers, but the cucumbers up the stairs (above picture) are doing absolutely nothing but making giant pretty leaves, which is fine too. My yellow tomato plants are producing about 2-3 fruit per week, which has been delicious and really fun!

Oh and that's my main squeeze, Rhonda! (don't tell my hubby)
