Well, this seems never ending! :) If anyone still remembers "The Plates", rather than setting the remaining one into a pendant, I''ve decided to be nice to my hubby and give him the other plate. I had it set into a men''s ring and it''s absolutely beautiful!! My husband was practically teary-eyed when I gave it to him as a surprise! I will post photos as soon as I download it off my son-in-law''s camera. He''s got the better DSLR kind :)

For those who have no idea what I''m talking about. Here goes the story in a nutshell:

I had earrings my daughter nicknamed as "The Plates" because of their size (roughly 3.5 ct. each). After years of sitting in the vault, I decided to take action and reset one of them as an engagement ring. Photos are below. So now that my ring is done, I was faced with the predicament of what to do with the other stone. I initially thought of resetting it into a pendant, but my previous engagement ring actually did the job. Eventually, I decided on using it as a men''s ring for my husband. Photos of my previous engagement ring and my hubby''s new ring to follow.

Oh and before I forget, there were some people asking about my jeweler in Calgary. All my resets were custom made by DeBearj Diamonds at Market Mall. His name is Sako. Not sure if the spelling is right. His workmanship is amazing and it seems there''s nothing he can''t do! When I bring him my ideas, he delivers it above and beyond my expectations! I am absolutely happy with him!

So without further ado, here''s some eye candy...

When they were plates:

What a beautiful re-use of some fine diamonds!

It''s kind of you to think of your husband - I''m sure he''ll cherish it. Whenever possible diamond should be loved and used, not hidden in the dark.

Love the reset of your "plate" too!

WOW

It took a long time to post the new photos as I am very technologically challenged :)

So, here''s what happened to the other "plate" that became my husband''s ring:

And as for my previous engagement ring, I''ve had it custom made into a pendant with a pave setting:

Both were custom made by Sako at DeBearj Diamonds in Market Mall here in Calgary.

What do you guys think? My husband loves his new ring! He was practically teary-eyed when I gave it to him as it was completely unexpected! The pave setting on my previous engagement ring made it look bigger too. It looks like it''s the same size as my new engagement ring! I am loving it! So happy I made the decision!

It is so sweet of you to make the ring for your hubby. Great reuse of diamonds!

Gorgeous! I would love to see a hand shot of your hubby rocking that rock!

I am curious about how you ended up with such big awesome earrings and kept them hidden away for so long before the reset? Did you prefer a smaller e-ring or were you feeling sentimental?

WOW!!! I too would love to see a hand shot of that rock you had set for your husband.

All of your pieces are beautiful

Yes, in a way I was feeling sentimental for a long time. I refused to switch so I bought bigger earrings instead :P
But my husband was totally ok with all of it. He was happy with his new ring. He wore it for a few days and decided it was too flashy for him to wear everyday. So, off it went back to the vault :)

Alas, it went back to the vault without a hand shot. I will try to post it though when he gets around to wearing it for a little bit.

What a waste :)

Indeed...if it were mine, it would not be sitting in a vault.

All your "plates" turned out beautiful in their new homes! I bet your husband was floored!

Finally, a hand shot of my husband''s plate :) I had to convince him to wear it as today is Chinese New Year. I''m really starting to doubt why I gave it to him when he is so reluctant to wear it! Sorry about the hand. Just like a lot of men, he couldn''t care less about moisturizing them properly so it''s very dry and rough!
