Sorry for making another thread but my original seemed to run out of steam.

Really hoping I can get a final verdict from Gypsy and tyty333 (who has been a great help) among others of course.

I'm working with David over at GOG, here is the video he provided me:

https://youtu.be/rPrtlImijh4

I was told the top right is the jeweler's favorite:
1.3 G VS2
1.34:1 ratio
EX/EX
Minimal bowtie

Here are the ASET images:

Do the video and images look promising?

Wow, cant believe they brought so many in for you. Thats great! Usually its about 4.

So...this is what I see

1 - Looks nice and has some non-mush facets at the ends of the rounded ends (not sure how you feel about those)
2 - No...just not doing it through the center (or any where else)
3 - looks like #1 but without the nice facets at the rounded ends and pretty mushy under the table (center is nice though)
4 - Reminds me of #3 but with better flashes through the mushy parts that head towards the ends. Center a little blocky.
5 down - Nice, not so blocky center, center looks to feather out nicely towards rounded end but...
5 up - Nicer, not blocky center and better light return through the mushy areas than 5 down. Center looks to feather out
nicely.

I think my favorites would be 4, 5 down and 5 up. The 1.3 size is nice! Its in your price range? How big is it (mm)? I have to say
that the picture doesnt look very good but lets hope (and I think) its just the picture/picture setup. Its nice to have their opinion
since they are there to see them in person.

How do you feel about 5 up?

Thanks tyty! I agree with your favorites and yes they're all in my budget. Asking on specific pricing now.

I can't tell the facet patterns on the three favorites - can you?

Do you mean like 8-main, 6 main, 4 main, etc?

The one you have the aset/ideal scope for looks like an 8 main but not through the center...like this stone (look at the GIA report)
https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/oval-cut/1.21-carat-g-color-vs2-clarity-sku-2164784

This would be an 8 main through the center
https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/oval-cut/1.72-carat-i-color-vs2-clarity-sku-1858008

Here is a 6 main through the center
https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/oval-cut/1.35-carat-d-color-vs1-clarity-sku-769783

And of course your 4 main that look pretty different
https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/oval-cut/1.21-carat-d-color-vs2-clarity-sku-1799284

BTW, "through the center" is sort of my term...I'm not sure what gemologist call where the pavilion mains fall.

Edit...I'm guessing* that both 5s are 8 mains but not through the center and cant really tell about #4. Could be the same or ?
It's really hard to tell without up close photos.

Thank you! 8 main is my favorite but center vs. off-center doesn't matter much to me.

Outside of pricing should I ask any other questions of GOG?

The jeweler did say that the 5 up stone was by FAR his favorite.

Just get a link (or have him send you a copy) of the GIA report or the report number so you/we can look it up. Post so we can look
at it/them.

Make sure you look up the return policy and upgrade policy at GOG just FYI.

Ask about a setting/timeframe things will be done etc.

GOG is a reliable company...

Hey, got some more info! I'll have to look all these up but I'm at work but here's the preliminary info:

4 – $7,301. - GIA 5233222523

5 down – $7478. GIA 6222779496

5 up - $7,240. GIA 1233855967

This one has a medium yellow fluorescence is that "bad"?

i'm a little bummed as these are all over the budget range i gave to GOG of $6-7K but oh well...

:((

i came across these two on their site that fit much better for my wallet and will allow me to get a nicer setting as i'd like to be out the door for ~$8500.

http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond-search/1.00-Oval--GIA-F-VS2-diamond-stock-15088-cert-

this is harder than i thought!

The F and the G that you linked should have a video still on their youtube they were taped alongside the D that we eventually bought, there was also a 2nd D VS2 on that video that they might still have.

oh, wow interesting. i'll try to find it. any reason you nixed those two?

i like the ones they brought in for me but they are all on the high end/over my budget and i'd rather bring the price of the stone down just a bit to accommodate a nice setting.

Honestly we didn't really nix any of them, we choose the best one within our budget, our budget was 6500 and with the wire discount the total was like 6450.

The parameters we set and the ones you seemed to have set are pretty different. If your looking to spend less I would just tell them. They are very good at selecting the best stones within your parameters but the best ones they get in will almost always use your entire budget.

Interesting update for those that care

I discussed my budget concerns and GOG is willing to do the 1.3 G with a Timeless Designs (?) Pave setting for $7800 total

Here it is pictured:

I'm still concerned about the yellow fluorescence but according to David he cannot tell with naked eye matt1.jpg

The more I think about it that yellow fluorescence is going to bother me too much, even just mentally.

I'm going to inquire more about the 5 down diamond in the video. The 4 is nice and big according to the GIA but the table and depth seem odd.
