The Official TTC Thread!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Katy! Yay yay yay! I always hear people say a line is a line. You better test again tomorrow and report back! I'm cautiously thrilled for you. Maybe LC's eagle pose helped???

LC, sounds like acupuncture is agreeing with you. If nothing else, it is awesome that it helps you relax. I can't wait to find out if it helps you reverse the longer and longer cycle trend. Agreed about springy and summery clothes. Nothing is cuter.

Pancake, it's hard to be patient, but hang in there. I'm sure you will be ovulating in no time.

Blondebunny, sorry about your disappointing ultrasound results. I don't have any experience with PCOS, so I am not much help. Did your doctor say whether she thought clomid would work for your particular problem? I completely get not wanting to seek unnecessary medical intervention if you don't have to, but f I were you, I would be tempted to at least look into the option. Hopefully someone on here can give you some advice.

Lizzy, any more symptoms? Crossing my fingers for a sticky one!

NEL, I definitely go from being patient to impatient. I have had a string of pregnancy and birth announcements from friends and families (two of them are having twins and one friend from HS just had identical boy triplets), and while I am very happy for each of them, it makes me really sad that I'm not pregnant yet. And the there are moments when I am okay with it and don't feel panicky about it at all. It's going to happen soon. You technically haven't even had one cycle of all out trying yet!

AFM, I can cross one thing off my list. My ovarian reserve test came back with only a shadow of a second line, which for once is a good result :) I'm 30, so I didn't think ovarian reserve would be a problem yet, but I'll take whatever positive news I can get.

Question for all of you, have you noticed that AF is shorter since coming off BC? I remember before going on BC, I would have AF for about 5 days. On BC, it was usually about 2-3 days. Since going off BC, it is only about 2 (maybe 3 days). Other than that, I seem to be back to my pre-BC self.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Wow so much to catch up on!

Katy: Yay! I'm cautiously optimistic for you!! Keeping my fingers and toes crossed for a BFP!!!

SBA: How frustrating! Hope something happens for you soon. My DH hasn't been to the gyn with me but if we were discussing medication and other methods of assistance with the fertility process, then I would definitely want him there for support and also to understand what was going on.

LC: That's awesome you did the 10k! I am not a runner so it always amazes me to hear of people running such long distances. Yay for a good acupuncture session! I hear you on just wanting a shorter cycle. Hope the acupuncture does the trick!

Lizzy: Continue to keep my fingers and toes crossed for you too! How are you feeling today? I would be itching to test right now but the smart thing would be to wait. Only a few more days! I'm a sole practitioner (lawyer) with my own practice and I work part-time, mostly from home unless I need to go to the office to meet with clients. It's been difficult as I just want to spend this time with DD. My practice has taken a backseat this past year so I'm now starting to get back up and running. Being a SAHM is tough so I commend you for that! Talked to the DH about the Mommy-gets-to-sleep-in-on-Saturday-system and I'm very much looking forward to sleeping in this Saturday!

BlondeB: Just wanted to send you {{HUGS}}.

Pancake: It is so frustrating when there's no sign of ovulation. Are you using OPKs or temping? I did both last cycle and got a + OPK on CD63 and got a temp shift a day later. Hope your cycle will not be as long as mine.

NEL: I feel the same way about being patient one second and impatient the next. For me, it's because I do all these things to time it just right and it doesn't happen so it gets frustrating. I want it to just happen now! But that's a normal feeling in this process of TTC right? Sometimes I go from, oh there's no rush for 2, it's nice the way it is, and then to, I wish I was pregnant already, so I don't have to temp or hold my pee to take an OPK test. Anyways, I'm one day behind you but not expected to ovulate until at least CD24. So it's a long wait for me.

MP: Yay for good test results! One less thing to worry about.

AFM: Nothing much going on. Had dinner with my girlfriends last night and seems like we're all trying or will start to try soon for #2. None of my friends know anything about OPKs or temping so I was explaining it to them last night. They want to just let it happen for a couple cycles before trying anything else. Sometimes I wish I could just let it happen but I guess it's not my personality. I'm the kind that NEEDS to know.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Too funny the talk about having a winter baby. I was just thinking about all you ladies last night and thinking "They are all going to have winter babies!" And I chuckled a little at that because I have been there    Hunter was born in February (got a BFP in June) and it was not much fun being pregnant that time of year and trying to get around post-partum in the snow and ice. This time is much better with a summer baby coming. So there is your consolation if nasty old AF arrives -- it means you are one month closer to a spring or summer baby instead of a lame-o winter baby! :rodent:

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

MP, yay for the good results on the ovarian reserve test. I have to admit that I googled it because at first I thought you were taking an ovulation predictor test and I thought "why is she taking it on CD3?" but then when I looked it up I realized it was a completely different test and that the goal was to take it when estrogen was low. I feel like I've been taking in all things TTC for months now, but no matter how much I learn, there is more to learn!

Coming off of BC had the opposite effect on my cycles: on the pill they were light and 4 days. Off the pill they are heavier and 6 days. I really prefer them shorter, so I'm glad that yours are shorter off of BC.

Ally, even though you're a day behind me, I wouldn't surprised me if we ended up Oing on the same day. The last few cycles, I've Oed around CD26. It's nice to have a cycle buddy!

I'm just like you in that I want all the information I can at my fingertips. I wanted to take a laid-back approach to TTC, which for me was just charting and even that only lasted one cycle. Now I'm happy to chart and do the OPKs. I think it's especially important for those of us who have longer cycles where getting the timing right is more than just saying "okay, it's been a couple of weeks since AF, time to heavy up on BDing".

ETA: Dreamer, you're so right about the winter baby fear. Here in New England we had a Nor'easter each week in January that dumped a foot or two of snow on us. Once our electricity was out for 3 days. I remember saying to D "Thank goodness I'm not 9 months pregnant right now!" I'm sure I'd go into labor in the middle of a blizzard.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

So I could have sworn I posted replies and an update yesterday, but now I don't see it. I guess PS ate it, so I'll try it again.

Ally - I'm the kind of person that needs to know too. If the information is accessible, then I'm going to research it. Good luck with sleeping in this Saturday! What a treat for you!

sba - like the other ladies, I think that if we were discussing fertility options in my appointment I would want to have my husband there.

Katy - you have me on the edge of my chair in suspense. I hope that you really did see a very faint line and that you will see a darker one tomorrow!!

LC - your accupuncture sounds so relaxing. I'm hoping your cycles start to trend shorter soon!

Lizzy - fingers and toes crossed for a super sticky bean this month! Also, I think I change my mind about using the CBE OPKs to watch for a fade in. Not sure if you can or not.

MP - I had no idea you could POAS to check your reserves. I learn something new every day on this forum. As for AF, mine is longer and heavier than it was on BC.

blondebunny - I'm sorry that the doctor didn't have better news for you. Hugs.

pancake - I know it must be so frustrating. I hope you get signs that your body is doing what it is supposed to soon.

NEL - I totally flip flop between patience and impatience. Some days I am very zen and know it will happen when it's supposed to, and other days I feel like everyone around me is preggo and I get super antsy about it. I hope this cycle is both shorter and more successful for you!

As for the winter baby discussion - I live in the south, so the likelyhood of weather preventing me from getting around or even causing the ground to freeze is incredibly low. On the other hand, having a newborn or being super pregnant in the summer when the temps are 100+ sounds absolutely miserable.

AFM - CD 15. Got a :)) on my OPK yesterday afternoon, but didnt BD last night for various reasons. Will definitely be seducing DH tonight though, and we hit up a couple days before the smiley too. My temp was still low this morning, so I know I didnt O yesterday. I am really hoping this is our month!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Monkey, good news on the ovarian reserve test! I've never heard of them before. I don't think I could handle any more tests though!!!

Katy, GAH!!!!! You are so patient! I think I would have run out and got myself a digital test! Do you think you saw a faint line during the allotted wait time or after? If it was within the allotted wait time, then by golly...I think you are KU'd!!!! Keep us posted!

LC, thank you for the eagle pose!!!! I'll take as many fingers, legs, arms, toes crossed as I can get. I may even cross my eyes!! Ha ha!!! I really hope the acupuncture can shorten your cycles so that you can start trying again sooner and sooner.

BB, I'm sorry about the PCOS news. However, like others have said...at least you know what's wrong and there is a plan on how to get you preggo. If in a couple of months, I am not successfully pregnant, I will also be going on Clomid. Good Luck and keep us posted.

Pancake, hang in there. I am hopeful that after your first AF after coming off BC, your cycles will get more in line with a normal cycle.

NE, I fluctuate between patient and not patient. At the beginning of a cycle or right after my m/c's, I keep telling myself to stay calm, we are not on a timeline, etc etc. But then after I have potentially ovulated and am in the 2ww, I am obsessed with hopefully getting some good news.

Ally, I am super psyched that I helped aid in you getting to sleep in on Saturdays! Glad I could be of service! I am often also jealous of people who don't use OPK's or don't get too scientific with getting pregnant and then literally get KU'd in like 2 months. But at the same time, it is the hand that I have been dealt and I feel that I'd rather know more about when I am going to O, then to just go in blindfolded at this point.

DD, I hear you on the winter baby thing...but then I think back to when my DS was born in April and due to being a first time mom trying to nurse full time, we didn't go out as often as I thought I would have within those first two months. So I figure if my due date ends up being Jan or Feb, we'll be ready for action come spring!!! Plus, at this point, I could care less when I am due!!! I just want a healthy baby in my belly!!!

AFM, trucking along. The only real standout symptom is being tired. I fell asleep last night at 8pm!!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Brown, we posted at the same time! Glad you got your positive OPK and that you guys BD'd before the positive too! If you BD tonight and tomorrow I think you will have covered your bases!!!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

NEL, I had never heard of the ovarian reserve test either but it came free with some FRER tests. I did a little research, and it doesn't sound like people put too much stock in the results either way. But I figured why not POA[nother]S. I wasn't going to tell my husband I was taking yet another test because he wouldn't approve, but my cat knocked the test off the counter and was sliding it all over the living room floor, so I got caught. Bad cat.

Brown, congrats on the smiley face. Sounds like you got some bd'ing in before and will again tonight, so you should be good to go. I think we are going to try a marathon this time around too starting this weekend. Good luck my friend!

Lizzy, yay for being tired!

Ally, you are definitely on a thread with like-minded people. Once you are aware of the information, it is hard to just go with the flow (pardon the pun).

NEL and Brown, you are supposed to have longer AFs after stopping birth control, so that is why I was asking. I know I shouldn't complain about a shorter AF, but I'm just paranoid after reading TCOYF.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

MP I know I am likely bugging you constantly trying to reassure you, but my AF has been 2-3 days and very very light (usually only need a liner for 2 days) since going off the pill two years ago and I got pregnant relatively easily twice! Our cycles sound very similar, and I can think of maybe 2 or 3 other PS women who had cycles like that too and had no issues with getting pg. Faith, woman. It will be ok.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Thanks Dreamer! You always make me feel better. I promise you are not bugging me at all. I think we all appreciate your knowledge and advice on this thread. I guess I just need a little more reassurance than the average TTC'er :)

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

More Eagle poses for Katy & Lizzy!!!!

Not much going on here. DH had shoulder surgery so I'm on nurse duty.

Katy, OMG I'm thinking about you sweetie! Do let us know if you test again.

Monkey, don't feel bad about needing more reassurance. We all need that from time to time. That's why this thread is the best. My periods now are very much like my periods when I was on HBC. Very light, 2-3 days. before HBC (it was SOOO long ago so I'm not so sure) I had maybe 3-5 day periods??

Blonde, I'm sorry about the PCOS news from your appt. There are a few ladies that graduated this thread that have had PCOS, so staying positive is key. If you want to try natural first you should do it. Also if you want to do a combo of natural and drugs then do it. Honestly you know yourself the best, do what feels right to you.

pancake, 4 wks is a while for no ovulation, but don't loose hope! I had a very long cycle coming off HBC. Just curious what pill were you on? I totally know what you mean about being impatient with your body. I feel the same way.

NEL, totally human for you to feel envious. Only because it's something we all want. I think I'm past the baby boon among my friends for a while, but I see pregnant women on the street and wish I was pregnant. Sigh!!! Also I knwo what you mean about blizzard babies. There was a snow day in Chicago and I was like, "Dude, what if you needed to get to the hospital??" I'd be FREAKING OUT.

Ally, yeah I don't think any of my friends do charting etc. I like charting because it doesn't make me all crazy like OPKs did. I think I'll give them a shot this cycle too but I'm going to get the wondofos to "pre-test" and use CBEs when the line is getting darker.

Dreamer, brrrr!!! I can't imagine a Canadian winter baby!!!!! Brrrr!!!

Brown, hooray for the :))! Get your game on tonight I'm hoping you guys have fun and manage to catch that egg.

Lizzy, hooray for early bed times. Sometimes it feels good.

That's it for me. Making dinner tonight, not sure what my DH can eat though, his right arm is useless and he's right handed. I'm thinking feeding him won't go very well, I think he'd be against it.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Ok so sue me, I couldn't wait...

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

KATY!!! No guess work there! So HAPPY for you! Have you told your DH or did you think of something cute to do? And now you have exciting news to share with your mom!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

I did tell my DH! I figured it would be pretty unfair for him not to be the first to know :))

I am notorious for knowing what to get him for his birthday or Xmas months in advance. But actually, he bought a present for me a couple months ago (my birthday is at the end of June) and has been teasing me about it! Well... I'm due right around his birthday, so when he came home and sat down on the couch next to me I was like "So in order to get you back for teasing me about my birthday, I'm just gonna say that I already know what you're getting for yours!" And he kinda scoffed at me, so I was like "Want a hint?" and he was like "No!" So I said "Too bad!" and handed him an expectant daddy book. :))

He may or may not have thought I was joking, or maybe it was the shock and terror that got him ;)) But I know he's going to be an amazing daddy to our eventual kid!

I'm kinda terrified now, we've decided not to tell anyone IRL except my parents (his can't keep a secret) until we hit the 12 week mark - unless they happen to figure it out themselves, since we figure our closest friends might. I can't help thinking about all the what-ifs, but I am very excited, too. So... Eek!!!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Ah, that's super cute! I can only imagine that you are a little nervous, but just trust you've got a super sticky bean on your hands. So happy for you!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Thank you!!! Maybe the 4th time's the charm and this cycle will be a good one for you, too!! I sure hope so! I'd love to go through this journey with my fellow TTCers!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Katy, hooray!!!!! I love those digital tests! Congratulations to you!!! :appl: :appl: :appl: I am in total agreement with you to try to wait till after the first trimester to tell everyone. If they guess, oh well, but I think you'll feel better spreading the news after the end of the first tri. yay!!!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Katy!!!! AWESOME!!! So happy for you. Sticky bean dust for you, sister!!!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

I figured since I lurk here daily, I might as well let y'all know I'm cheering for you!!! I'll see ya back here as a poster in a few months, but hopefully by then you will all have moved on to the preggo thread!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Katy!!! EEEEEeeee!!! I'm so excited for you, congratulations! I'm sending super sticky dust your way!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Katy!!! Yay!!!

Hopefully the whole lot of us will join you on the BFP train!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Thanks ladies!!!! I would love nothing more than to have kicked off a staggering wave of BFPs here in the TTC thread so we can stay on this journey together!

As it so happens, it appears Charbie was totally right ;) try to get that BD on before that positive OPK shows up!!

Ok now what...?!?! Just another waiting game! I plan to call around today to try and figure out what kind of care I'm going for!!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Congratulations, Katy!!! Enjoy every minute of this very special time!!! Sending super-sticky dust your way!!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Katy: :appl: :appl: :appl: :appl: :appl: :appl: :appl: :appl: Congratulations!! I'm so happy for you! Sending lots of sticky thoughts your way! When I found out I was pregnant with DD, I confirmed it with a urine (HPT) test and blood test at my GP, then had an ultrasound at my Obgyn at 8 weeks.

I hope this is the start of many BFPs around here!!!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Congrats Katy! Glad you went for the digi!!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Congrats Katy!!! That digital looks so awesome!!

;)) I worried just as much when TTC the first time.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Katy... I am not sure, that test is sort of hard to read, maybe try another one?

Congrats! Such wonderful news! And the worry will slowly abate as you get further along. Then other worries take over. :rodent: We also did not tell anyone in either of my pregnancies until I was 12 and 16 weeks along (well, we told parents and I told some close friends ::) You might feel like sharing as it sinks in more).

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Katy, hope you are having a fantastic day. What a fun secret to have!

Lizzy, are you getting close to testing? I can't remember what what day you are, but I'm sending positive vibes your way too. Katy needs some company in the pregnancy club :)

Dreamer, my problem is that I have done too much googling and have become a major TTC hypochondriac. My husband always says to me when I start diagnosing myself with something, "Wow, I didn't know google was giving out medical degrees now." I'm going to just assume nothing is wrong for the next couple of cycles and BD early and often and see if that does the trick.

I guess Brown will be next after Lizzy! Crossing my fingers for you all for some good news soon.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

I am officially in the 2WW at 1DPO. My temp went up this morning, so assuming it stays up that means that I ovulated yesterday which is what I expected after getting my +OPK.

Lizzy - If I'm not mistaken you are 10dpo today. When do you plan on testing this time around?? Crossing fingers and toes for you!
