China: I totally figured it out last night. It was like a Scrubs episode (anyone watch?) where the main guy NEVER saw any women who wore wedding bands, and when they took them off, he was surrounded. It''s like that with Phelps, ahhh, sexy swimmer man, isn''t he- Did he just snort and guffaw? Where did sexy Phelps go? Hello? Phelpsie?

LL: I''m a little bloated, mostly in my hands, and CRAMPING up the ying/yang, or shall I say, hoo/hah?

China, sadly my "talents" go wasted in a meaningless job accounting for a company who makes more in a day than I ever will in my lifetime. If not for the office naps, I''d be dying here, instead of playing scrabble online and writing stories on my blog. Someday I hope to be a female David Sedaris, yeah, like his sister Amy.
9.gif
I would love to write a collection of stories/essays. I have some doozies to tell, I bet ya. My dad wore HAMMER pants to my 5th grade birthday party! With no SHIRT! Why do that to a child??

Amber - We LOVE scrubs. LOVE IT. Although 30 rock is my Thursday Fave..."A woman with ambition, it''s like clothes on a dog." Hysterical.

LOL this Phelps talk is cracking me up! Amber, you''re hilarious!

Thanks bb!

Peeing in a cup - When I was testing, I''d always PIAC too. peeonastick.com recommends you do that.

Or swim. Mostly swim. And let me ride on his back like a diver at Sea World. Man, that would be so cool.

Amber - I just got off a 3 hour+ conference call and going through this thread, particularly the above quote, was ridiculously entertaining! i still can't shake the image of you feeding him little fish treats as rewards
9.gif

LittleL: hear ya' on the bloat and trying my darndest not to read too much into it...

DD and Amber: ah ha! so that is why a cup is useful. thanks. will pack a few for sure.

tiffany: how long have you been using a monitor? have you had other months without an o? hopefully, you'll get a nice *peak* tomorrow. I agree that mae is an excellent middle name! someday. someday.

eta: thanks for the advice snlee! I remember when you were TTC. i lurked and posted occassionally as i was still waiting - great to see you popping in over here!!

LOL. My dad started telling my friends to call him "Rap Master G" when I was in hs. I wanted to die. Haha.

Mela, that's too funny! That was my thought too! Instead of all the location get togethers that are always posted we can have the PSPG GTG (PS Play Group). LOL.

ETA: I really like the back splash!!!

DH and I moved into our house almost 5 months ago and we're not even totally unpacked yet. Woops. We really need to get off of our butts! We have so many half finished projects around the house. At least we got down all of that awful 60's wallpaper. Well, most of it. Our downstairs bath is still 60's flowerville.

I bought a box of instead cups today from CVS (I'm impatient and couldn't wait for them to get here in the mail) and so far so good as far as a pad/tampon alternative goes. It's soooo much more comfortable (for me at least) than a tampon. I'm feeling much fresher. At the very least I can use them for that. I haven't tried to take one out yet though and something tells me that's going to be the tricky part.

Hey Robbie, for a long time I used a diaphram which is a lot like those cups and I found it was easiest to take it out if I kinda squatted and "beared down"
20.gif
a little to move it nearer the opening and then try to hook one finger around the outer ring part it came out okay... as a long-time charter, I''m sure your "pupeteering" skills will come in handy for this as well
2.gif

It''s cool to hear you like them, I always wanted to try them. My flow is really light and sometimes tampons are too absorbent. I''ll have to try those instead cups out sometime!

And DD- I didn''t realize that you were already preggo! Congrats- and how cool of you to hang around and ''teach'' us clueless ones.
HAHA, more like crazy bossy stalked woman, but I like your interpretation so much better!

TGal mentioned a while back that she finally read back through the thread and noticed how we all formed such a tight bond in this group... it is so true, I really feel close to all you guys (sniff sniff) so I like to stalk this thread as much as possible and annoy everyone as much as possible. tee hee

mela I totally dig your backsplash, that is my fave look. I would almost call it a modern country look, with the whitewashed oak. DH and I don''t own a house yet, mostly b/c with my job we don''t know where we will be living until I find a permanent position, and I am really jealous of people who own houses, I am so looking forward to it.

Amber I would pay good money to see you riding on Phelps'' back like a dolphin. But only if you were fully clothed. He could be naked, but you must at least wear panties.

BB you may be tired, a little sore, and a little bored, but if you DTD everyday you will indeed otherwise be "fine"

Hi TTC Psers!
35.gif

I originally posted my questions over in the PS Pregnant Thread and Dreamer suggested I move it over here to get more help. Thanks again Dreamer!

(I copied and pasted what I posted in the preggo thread)

Long story short- I''m pretty sure I O''ed on the 16th. My LMP was Aug. 1st and I usually have a 28-30 day cycle. I had a lot of EWCM on the 15th and a TON on the 16th. DH and I normally use condoms or withdrawal but it was late Saturday night/early Sunday morning (2am on the 17th
10.gif
) and ended up doing "the full deed" that one time
6.gif

I''m very very fertile as is DH. So I''m trying to find out what the odds are that I could possibly get pregnant from this weekend? If I''m pretty sure I O''ed (based on the tons of EWCM) on the 15th or 16th...?

What are the chances of getting pregnant when DTD the day of Oing or potentionally the day after? I am fairly crampy the last 2 days but I''m also looking for symptoms
2.gif
Even though we''re not TTC, I''m kind of hoping I am preggo from this!

Thanks so much!

oh Ammmmmber - Phelps as the next bachelor? http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26254878/

Feb - if you O''d on the 16th, then you''ve got a chance, but if you O''d on the 15th, I think it is really unlikely that you could be.

And unfortunately, in either case, I don''t think you''d feel any symptoms yet...the fertilized egg is still moving on down the tube and into the uterus...I think it takes at least 4 days for implantation to occur, but I could be wrong.

Good luck either way!

Others will probably know more about this subject than I, nevertheless, we may have conceived our baby the day after I O''d. FF indicated that I O''d on June 26th which is later than I though I would O so I didn''t think we timed it right. We DTD on the the night of the 24th and the morning of the 28th. not knowing when we DTD, my dr said she thought we conceived on the 27th. It''s possible FF was wrong but I think it''s likely that the 28th is when it happened...

For referrence, we got pregnant the second cycle we tried. I went off the pill in April and had a 40 day 1st cycle. I guess my second cycle would have been a little longer than that had we not gotten pregnant.

For all of you TTC, I just wanted to give you a shout out and say I hope all goes well!

Mrs - Sperm can "live" for up to five days...so the fact that you DTD on the 24th means you could have very well have gotten pregnant based upon that date - regardless of whether you O''d on the 26th or the 27th.

Lisa- Thank you so much for the information! I'm actually becoming a bit worried, and confused- the big follie was 18 x 23 on CD 11. Doc said, "You'll ovulate any day now!"

I'm on CD 14 and my monitor still reads "High," which indicates I haven't ovulated yet. Boo. Just how big can that sucker get before it pops? And with every day, are those other follicles just growing and growing? DH and I have DTD every day since CD 10 and will continue to until I get confirmation of ovulation, but I just wish it'd happen already. Maybe it already did, and the Clomid confused my monitor. Either way, I hate not knowing. Around CD 11, I kept getting these sharp pains on the left side, where the big follie was. I felt the pain on CD 12, less on CD 13, and none today. I wonder if this means I already ovulated? So many questions!

ChinaCat- Thank you so much for your kind words. We're trying a bunch of different things this cycle, so I'm hoping one or many of the changes will help this next embryo be a healthy, sticky one!

And now I sit and wait to O. If I'm not already in the 2ww, that is!

Thank you for the replies! I''m scouring through links on Yahoo search and most of the fertility sites say to BD before O, day of O and day after O for good measure(assuming you know the exact dates).

Regardless, I''m in the 2WW!

Ebree are you temping? Have you ahd a shift? I read that those monitors can be inaccurate, so you may need to wing it this month esp. if the monitor is somehow affected by the clomid. Maybe you will have to DTD for 30 days in a row! LOL. That would take the TTC prize for sure.

February Check out www.fertilityfriend.com they have the best information about fertility and conception etc etc.

DD- Unfortunately, I didn''t temp. Temping was making me crazy, so I gave it up the month my thermometer and monitor agreed on O-day. If I don''t get a "Peak" reading in the next day or two, I''ll call the doc and see what she thinks. And we''ll keep DTD, I guess. Keep your fingers crossed for the magical monitor egg tomorrow for me?

Fingers are crossed! Your doc can probably measure your blood for progesterone to confirm ovulation, or do an u/s to look for follies I bet. It will be interesting to see if your monitor works... have you ever heard that clomid can affect such monitors? I wouldn't be at all surprised since clomid subtly alters your hormones and the monitor "learns" your hormone pattern, and that learning would have been pre-clomid. Oh well, either way, this only affects your knowing, in the end that egg will pop and those swimmers will be waiting, whether you know it or not!

I think the Clomid can throw off the temps but not sure of this as I had a trigger shot to avoid going down the "have I O''d" path - as you can see there r so many things to ponder w/ a stim cycle.

I can say that even w/ a forced O trigger I didn''t feel it very strong. This was strange b/c both trigger shots I had 4 mature follies and usually get mittleschmirtz. I thought I''d be doubled over.

I think u already O''d. They can check to make sure via US (there are shadows left on the ovary where follicles were or take your blood levels to tell - estradiol drops and progesterone picks up).

So consider yourself in the 2ww girlie!

Yes your other follicles kept on growing until the "lead" left the ovary probably on Sat. based on size.

I know that any FSH stim drug tends to create more uniform size follicles so that more can pop and not get inhibited by a lead/dominant follicle.

Most women have more than one dev. but before maturity the lead dominates and the others fade away prior to ovulation.

It''s great that u got monitored so now you know you produce proper follicles.

Here''s to fertilization and implantation

Temping question...

I woke up at 7.30am and shoved that thermometer in my mouth and got 36.20 centigrade - which is 97.16 fahrenhite.

Then I realised it was only 7.30am when I normally temp at 8.00am so I went back to sleep and took it again at 8.00am. This time it was 36.27 or 97.29. This seems quite a big jump to me. Which temp would you use?

Pandora, I would go with the first temp you took, as that was when you first woke up. I used to try to take mine at my "normal" get up time, but my husband gets up about an hour before I do, so now I take mine then and go back to sleep.

So far, my temps have been relatively close together, no huge huge dips or surges. I''ve been all nervous about not ovulating since that LONG cycle, so I''m really grasping at straws, since it''s only been like 5 days on this cycle, but it''s enough to make me hopeful!

I hear a couple of you are in the two week wait! Here''s hoping!!!

I''d use the first one. Seems from this one time at least that your temps are really affected by time and amount of sleep. Which temp is closest to your typical pre-O temps?

Sadly this is the first cycle charting with temps - so far I''ve had:

CD1 - 97.12
CD2 - 97.29
CD3 - 97.32
CD4 - 97.20
CD5 - either 97.16 or 97.29

Oh, CD 1 was at 7.30am as well - all the others at 8.00am...

Both temps are within the range of the previous, so no worries, you can use either one I think. For O to be confirmed, the temp has to be higher than the highest of previous 6 (using FAM rules), which means it would need to be at least 97.52 given your temp on CD-3. Odds are that your post-O temps will be much higher still. In your shoes I''d probably average the two temps and record that. Not overy scientific, but since you won''t O until at least CD 12-14, probably, this temp won''t really matter anyways (i.e., it won''t end up determining your O-day because you will have many more temps between now and then).

Thank you DD!

I was just a little suprised that those 30 minutes seem to make quite a difference!

I was just a little suprised that those 30 minutes seem to make quite a difference!
I found the same thing and after a while you will get a feel for whether the earlier or later temps are the "true" temps, since this won''t be the only time you wake up early/late
2.gif
. Really, though, that isn''t much of a temp difference. My pre-O temps ranged from 36.0 to 36.5 and post-O from 36.5 to 37.5.

Last night I had a dream that I got a BFP. I was so excited and I remember telling people and it all seemed so real. When I woke up I totally thought it had happened. After a minute or 2 I realized it was just a dream and I also realized that I felt like I needed to change my pad even though I had used an instead cup. Stupid thing was totally not where it was supposed to be and was practically falling out! So, I''m taking back my rave review on the instead cups, or at least holding off on it. They worked great while I was awake, but not so great overnight. I''m trying them out again today. Maybe I just didn''t have it in the right place? It felt like it was in there pretty good, but who knows. Good thing I had a pad on! I didn''t think I''d have an issue with getting it in the right place or having it fall out since I never had that problem when I was on the ring. I guess it is a bit different though.

Pandora, I doubt it was the 30 minutes as much as it was that you woke up. I woke up at 4 after my dream and obviously had to get up to go to the bathroom at that point. I normally temp at 5:30, but today I let myself sleep a bit later so I temped at 6 (I didn''t think to do it at 4 since when I woke up I thought I was pregnant, LOL) and I had a HUGE jump. 97.2 to 97.8. That''s post O level for me!

Robbie- sorry that was just a dream! Interesting about the instead cups. Good thing you had some "insurance" down there!!

Pandora- I agree that the temp difference was probably the fact that you woke up, then had only 30 more minutes of sleep. Most of what I''ve read recommends 3 hours of uninterrupted sleep for an accurate temp.

Good morning

I want to give a big shout out to all my enablers...Pandora, ChinaCat, and anyone else I overlooked... THANKS

Since I have no friends close by who have children (or even like children) I have no one IRL to tell me to get busy. I am starting to drop little comments now and then around my friends just to judge their reactions but I''ve really just come to realize that these girls are my true friends and although me having a baby will change things I really am not afraid of losing them. I''ll be 31 in Oct. and it seems a great way to start off a new year. We have a big year coming up for us (DH is thinking about a career change and is currently working A LOT) but it''s always going to be something and I''m lucky to be in a job that I love and that gives me a great deal of flexibility. My work schedule is crazy but that will never change and I know my bosses will work with me. DH has been asking all his friends with kids for advice and they''ve all told him to just go for it. I love the fact that he''s so excited about it too.

The good news is I only have 26 pills left in this pack.

ChinaCat... You are so right about never being 100% ready and that''s something that DH and I discuss a lot. I am officially enabling YOU to get started.

as far as complications with twins are concerned I guess I''m a little too laid back in that regard (I really didn''t realize how many complicaitons there could be until I started to read about it). My mother didn''t even know she was having twins until just before we were born. It was in the 70s and I guess ultrasounds weren''t that common (or didn''t exist) so since our heartbeats were in synch the Dr.s told her she was having 1 big baby. When she went into premature labor they Xrayed her (I think) and that''s when they told her there were 2 of us. We were born a short time later... each weighing a little over 3 lbs. We spent a month in incubators before we were able to go home but we''ve been healthy ever since.

Robbie...I read your post about the 60''s wallpaper and I just wanted to express my sympathy for what you must be going through. Our house had 70''s wallpaper throughout most of it and it was a horrible job getting it down. I tried DIF, vinegar, fabric softer, I even tried all 3 mixed together... it seemed like nothing worked and it destroyed our drywall. We finally rented a wall steamer which was a lifesaver (I am not ashamed to admit that I broke into tears when I saw how well it was working) but unfortunatly we waited until the last room to rent it. We had to hire someone to come in and refinish our walls (skim coat) but they look great now. Stripping wallpaper sucks. It was by far the hardest job we''ve done to the house.

We''ve actually been really lucky and ours hasn''t been that bad. We''re just taking our good ole time to do anything

. Our living room was the worst. It had this burlap sack type stuff on the wall. That room has cathedral ceilings. It was really hard to get down, but FIL and MIL did most of it. Seriously, I came home from work one day and it was gone and DH said, "Oh yeah, my mom and dad stopped by and did it." My in-laws are awesome!
