Home The Official TTC Thread!

Hi everyone,

Just to remind everyone, I posted a week or so ago saying my husband and I were thinking about TTC. I did get on vitamins but as of last night I''m still on the darn pill. DH and I decided it was best to wait a couple more months and finish up a few projects we''re working on (so we can focus more on the TTC project when the time is right
1.gif
) I haven''t posted in awhile because I feel like a fraud posting here considering that we''re not quite there yet.

I actually thought my wish for it to "just happen" may have come true when I realized yesterday morning that I hadn''t started my period this month (should have been Fri.). I know that it''s normal for women on my pill (Loestrin 24) to get to the point where they don''t have one any longer but since it was the first time in 18 years that I''ve ever not had one I got a little excited (even though I knew how slim the chances were). I took a test and of course it was negitive but at least I know. DH said I only took one because I wanted to be one of the "cool kids" and POAS.
1.gif
Actually he admitted he was a little dissapointed (and so was I) although we knew it was a very very long shot. I told him that I think it means that we''re actually more ready to start than we''re willing to admit.

At least I can take another migrane pill. I''ve had a headache every day for the last week.

Good luck to you all... I''ll be around (lurking) and following everyone''s progress... if I''m not back for good in Oct. send someone to kick me in the butt and throw away those horrible pills. I really hate those things. I think I need a TTC intervention.

Blushing I don''t think you missed O as a +OPK means you have 36 hrs to O.

Sperm can live up to 5 days in there so as long as you do it every 2 days you should be fine.

Regarding Instead Cups - I think the first squirt contains the most sperm so if you prop up your pelvis on pillows for 15 mins. after you should be fine.

Sperm invade your fallopians in like 30 mins from ejaculation, quick suckers. The rest die off.

With my 1st pg. I layed on the side I O''d from for 15 mins.

Hi Old and New friends!
35.gif
I love that our TTC group is growing. Hopefully, like Robbie suggested, we''ll all get BFP together and move to the Preggo thread, and then our kiddlets will grow up to be BFF''s and some of them can even fall in love and then complete the PS cycle by going on the BWW thread...etc etc. HAHA.
That little rant felt Caffeinated.

CD3 here.
9.gif
I''m really looking forward to this cycle with you all. Odds are...someone (if not more) will get KTFU!

Hello also to the lurkers, ChargerGrl, Feb2003bride and AQ. Charger - GET ON THAT Thermometer girl! You''ve come so far to get a ''normal'' cycle, why not temp and nail that O day!? Then, when you finally do take the plunge, you''ll be THAT much more likely to get your BFP!!!

I''m now temping and loving it. Looking forward to confirming an O date for once, rather than speculating.

My weekend was super produtive. Here is our new DIY backsplash. Kinda hard to see the brick pattern of the tumbled marble backsplash, but you get the idea. I wish I had taken "before" pics. D''oh!

My friend at work is also TTC, and I''ve been ''teaching'' her everything I know...and I''m pretty sure she''s KU!
31.gif
She described the implantation pain last night...so a few more days and hopefully she''ll get her BFP!

As for me, DH and I are going to NYC at the end of this month, coinciding nicely with our BD time. YEY! I''m feeling optimistic about this cycle!

IMG_3496.jpg

Mela - love love love the kitchen! I can see the pattern of the backsplash. Tumbled marble was my second choice. We did subway tiles in almond w/ brick pattern.

R U charting on FF?

Lulu - I also agree with POASing while you are gone. I know I am going to...although it will be a bit weird if I get a BFP and DH isn''t there. Luckily, my friend is also TTC - so she''ll be very understanding of my obsessiveness.

So I''ll probably POAS on Friday, Saturday...so on and so on...until I find out one way or the other!

I love the name Mae. My friend''s daughter is 18 mos...and everyone calls her MaeMae! So you ask her what her name is she says MaeMae. Very cute.

BB - FWIW, we f-tastic at least every other day...and sometimes everyday...depending on mood, etc!

AQ - Take your time and wait until you are for sure ready! No hurray!
1.gif

Mela - the backsplash looks faboo!!!!

mela! i love the look of those backsplashes. gorgeous. i bet even more gorgeous up close. nice work
36.gif
. DH and I also have lofty plans for the bathroom and since it''s such a wee little space, marble hex floor tiles are my #1 option...

Happy Monday everyone. Though it's grey and rainy here (which I love) but feeling grumpy and it just FEELS like a Monday, you know?

Ebree, Blushing- Good luck! Blushing, wishing you some f-tastic days ahead.
31.gif

Ebree, I know that you've had a rough go of it, and I'm really rooting for you. FWIW, I know several girls who had one or more m/c their first times trying, and ALL of them have had successful pregnancies since then. Some naturally, some with help. In fact, I just met one this weekend- one of my BF's growing up tried for over 2 years, unsuccessful for many reasons, had a m/c, etc, ended up doing IVF (not b/c of the m/c). But I have to tell you, he is just the cutest, most life-affirming thing I have ever seen. I am not that into other people's babies, but he is just special to me, and I think part of it is I know how hard she worked to get him here. Seeing her with him just filled me with such joy. It will be worth it!

Robbie, Pandora, Mela, HIL- Good luck on the fresh starts! Funny you guys are all togther- I have this funny vision of little meddling old ladies flitting about the world, "visiting" you guys at the same time, giggling merrily as they dispenses their most unwelcome gift. Kind of a cross b/w the fairy godmothers in the old cartoon version of Sleeping Beauty (the ones that keep changing the color of her dress) with Dolores Umbridge from one of the last Harry Potter movies- you know, sickly sweet, all dressed in pink, but evil.

LL, NYC- Hope you are keeping yourselves busy during the wait! Good luck!

AQ- Glad you are checking in. Funny how you go through that weird disappointment thing even if not trying. Although it works the other way too- I couldn't sleep the other night and some of the info on this thread was swirling around and I convinced myself that we had baby-danced on O day, and was petrified that I was preggo- and I got scared, and was oh, wait, but I have that wedding in September, and I want to go to London in October, and I really wanted to do so and so, and I haven't taken enough vitamins yet, and aren't there statistics that the chance of twins increases on the first month after going off the pill, I can't deal with twins, oh, please, NOT YET! Of course, we didn't and I'm not, but I did freak myself out a little. The thing is though, this week I would be totally fine with it. Excited, even. Go figure!

Can't wait to read some good news on this board! I think it's about time. Go ladies, go ladies, go ladies go!

ETA: Mela, your kitchen is beautiful! NYC can be a very romantic place!
31.gif
Chargergirl, I forgot to say thanks for the info re: getting your cycle back to normal after going off BCP. I just went off, and kind of worried about if I should, but I think the consensus here is that it definitely takes time to regulate. Oh, and DD, you are some kind of informational genius! Thanks to you Fisher and I may sort of almost understand this stuff! Although I do feel like I totally just copied your homework or something. Like you did all the hard work, and I just cheated off you.
2.gif
Thanks much!

Lisa - yup. Charting on FF but only the basic features. I''m only on CD3 - but will post when there is something to look at
2.gif

You''re backsplash sounds GREAT! yey on all of our Reno''s! I figure, do it now before the baby!
37.gif

I just found out via Facebook that a couple DH and I did Marriage classes with is DUE right now! WHOA! Talk about a speedy conception. I''m jealous. hhahaaa.

AQ - Take your time and wait until you are for sure ready! No hurray!
1.gif
I think we are ready... just waiting until our life is a little more simplified (we''re in the middle of a house renovation). DH and I keep reminding each other that we''re talking a delay of a couple months which in the greater scheme of things isn''t much at all. The bright side of all this is that the waiting is making us want it more. Our original "start date'' was to be Oct. but lately we''re both getting impatient with the wait. In the end we have both agreed that we chose Oct. for several reasons and as hard as it is to wait it''s probably for the best.

Mela lu.... seeing your wonderful new countertops makes it hard for me to put off TTC because of a renovation (and makes me want to add a kitchen remodel to our plans...trust me we really need one)
1.gif

ChinaCat... you made me laugh with your mini freak-out. It''s things like that that keep me waiting (although to be honest my schedule is not likely to slow down any time soon). The twin thing doesn''t worry me. I''d love to have twins... probably because I am one
1.gif
I 100% know what you mean about being fine with it this week. Last week we decided to wait... after I took the first pill from a new pack last night DH and I were both sad and sort of wishing I hadn''t taken it.

BTW... I hate these GNC vitamins... I didn''t realize I was supposed to take 2 every day. Is there by chance a version of them that is only 1 a day?

AQ - my "Platinum" brand prenatals are once a day, and in a gel cap so that chalky pill taste is not an issue. I love them, but they are canadian. I''m SURE that you can get a once a day....try a natural foods store. They often have alternative brands.

re: TTC while renovating. Meh. Who knows how long you''ll take to conceive. Everyone says you''ll "never" be ready, so don''t let Renovating be your reason/excuse to put it off. Their will always be *something* preventing you - if you let it - that''s my 2cents. Ignore me
17.gif
as I understand everyone has to do it in their own good time. GL with your reno''s though!!

LOVE the countertops - I bet you''re glad you have another thing checked off your list. Let me know if you need any recommendations for NYC - you and DH will have a fabulous time! What weekend are you coming?

Lisa!
35.gif
Thanks for stopping by...I know I didn''t miss O, but me being the control freak wants to cover all my bases and of course FF doesn''t show you the sex-o-meter until after O and all the F-tastic is complete. I wish it would tell you while you''re doing it so you know you''re doing it when you''re supposed to...oh well.

Thanks for responding to my F-tastic poll. It''s just another thing for me to obsess and analyze...will it ever stop!!??

AQ - I think you'll find that most prenatals taste pretty yucky...I usually take mine with something other than water...washes the taste away! Or is there something else you hate about them?

Some sort of gelcap might work - just make sure you are getting all the vitamins you are supposed to get.

ETA - Hi there CC! Nice to see you checking in! And I totally understand about your freak out...I am still trying to get used to the fact that I want to see a positive test...not a negative! I'm being a bit facetious, but it definitely takes some getting used to.

Thanks. I''ll look for that brand and if I can''t find them I''m just going to go ahead and call my Dr. and get a prescription for some.

I know what you mean about the renovating thing.... We bought our house in May and spent 6 weeks working our @$$es off trying to get it ready for us to move in (it''s a great house but it was stuck in a 70''s timewarp...scary thing is everything looked brand new). We moved in at the end of June and have been finishing up some projects but luckily most of the stuff that we were planning to DIY is nearly complete. The rest of it we will hire someone to do or wait a bit to work on (unfortunatly the kitchen is on that list since it''s very functional but just very ugly). The good news is that as we were unpacking our office on Saturday we were discussing our plan to turn in into a nursery in the very near future. I''m also considering the possiblity that a pregnancy would exempt me from having to work on the house (I HATE this DIY stuff... hubby loves it but I hate every minute of it) which is all the more reason to get going on it.
1.gif

I need all the enablers i can find to tell me to just get started with it. Next month (Sept) will for sure be my last month on bc... and like I said...if I''m not an active TTCer by Oct then please send a mob out to find me.

It''s not so much the taste but since the pills are so large it''s hard to get the first one down much less the second! I have a hard time swallowing pills.

I always find it ironic that I''m taking prenatals at the same time I take my bc pill. I keep them together because I never forget my pill but I''m terrible at remembering to take my vitamins.

Mela- I love the backsplash! It looks great.

LL-my mother''s middle name was. Mae. As is my grandmother''s. Unfortunately it doesn''t really go with my last name, but I may use it for a middle name. Someday.

Blushing-we try to do the f*tastic every day for about 5 days prior to O. Sometimes with our crazy work schedules it ends up being every other day.

So I am on CD 20 and still no O. (I usually o between day 14 and 17) I haven''t had a high on my CBEFM, although I did have EWCM 2 days last week so I thought I was going to O, but no temp rise. Still no temp rise. I don''t know if it''s going to be delayed this month or not happen at all. Fooey, I was really hopeful this month and I''m not always a glass half full kind of gal. However, I was looking at some charts on TCOYF website and there were some with delayed o and then a BFP. But some of these people didn''t o until day 40 or 50.
I. Do. Not. Have. That. Kind. Of. Patience.

Okay, I''ll enable you...

- DH and I will be moving house in the next few months - when that damn contract comes through. We then have rennovations there and on our current property.

- PG or not, we''re going to Sri Lanka in October for 2 weeks

I''m really hoping to be pg by xmas for quite big financial reasons, so I don''t dare miss a couple of months. Plus, I''m 36 and need to get started if I want more than one (I''d like a 5 year age gap between them).

AQ - I meant to write NO HURRY, not, NO HURRAY. Gah. And I''m not sure if they make the smaller prenatals. I think they pack so darn much crap in there that they have to be large. But I''m not sure.

I have heard of women taking flintstones vitamins when they can''t tolerate prenatals for whatever reason.

TT - maybe your procedure is going to mess with your O date a bit? I certainly have NO medical reason to think this...but maybe.

It seems like our lady system is SOOOO darn touchy. ya know?

bb, f-tastic - LOL I love these phrases you ladies come up with! The cycle I got pregnant, we BDed every other day. I don''t believe we BDed on the day I O''ed. I''ve read that it usually takes men 2 days to build up their most fertile sperm. Sperm can live in there for a few days so you didn''t miss your O!

I''m amazed at how this thread has taken off! There are so many of you TTC now (compared to when it first started and I was TTC). It''s really great to see how tight knit you ladies are and so supportive of one another. It''s awesome! Lots of baby dust to all of you!

BB the main reason we did the f-tastic every day was because in previous cycles we missed a day or so in the fertile period and I was all like, "What if that had been THE day??!!?" So it was more about anxiety reduction to feel like we did everything we could. And DH liked the marathon
2.gif
It isn''t required, but if you DTD everyday you get a higher % of pregnancy charts on Fertility Friend when you do the "search for charts like mine" so I do wonder if more can be better. I guess everyday just makes it more likely you will hit that magic day--the day before O-day has a 40% conception rate, compared to a 20% conception rate in the 2 days before o-day. So that is a good day to hit is possible.

lovely As for dixie versus full stream, if you DO get a BFP you may want to take like... 10 more tests
3.gif
and if you have the pee in a cup you can test immediately, if you just POAS you have to wait to fill up again, or maybe even wait until the next morning... that is the only benefit.

It''s so reassuring to hear (from someone who is pregnant) that I''m on track and doing things just fine.

I''ve been lurking in the preggo''s thread and keeping up with your pregnancy (I''m glad everything turned out OK for you).

Your belly looks adorable - I can''t believe you only have about 2 months ago - I feel like it was just yesterday when you moved onto to the preggos thread! Amazing how time flies by...

Thanks DD - I remember reading that you have a slightly higher chance of conception if you do it everyday as opposed to every other. I''m guessing since we''ve already been doing it every other and since today was my first positive OPK, if we do it everyday until O and the day after, we''ll be just fine!

Hi everyone: I''m actually working today (did ya see that pig fly by?), and have no time to post to everyone specifically, but MELA! Love the backsplash. Looks like a magazine photo!

Tiffany, hope you O soon!

LL, Lulu, BB, China, AQ, Lisa, Robbie, Pandora, Fisher, and GOOD GRACIOUS there are a lot of folks in here! Hope you all are doing great and are coming along nicely.

Lulu: Test on 10DPO, do it for me, take one for the team.

And: I always pee in cups. Ew, that sounds gross. DH has a whole crapload of gatorade cups that he doesn''t take to football games anymore, and these are now my pee cups. Lovely, just what Gatorade wanted.

And I figured it out: Michael Phelps is cute when he''s wearing goggles, a swim cap and not talking.

Amber - was it on here or IRL that someone pointed out that ol'' Phelpsie is a mouth breather? Cause he is. Not so attractive. But I agree...cap, goggles and I''d add - MOUTH CLOSED!

Maybe you could stick a brown bag over his head.

I could market them: Michael Phelps Brown-Baggin'' it, for those times you just wish he''d STOP TALKING and just STAND THERE. Or swim. Mostly swim. And let me ride on his back like a diver at Sea World. Man, that would be so cool.
30.gif

Amber- That''s exactly it about Michael Phelps!!!! I was noticing he can go from dead sexy to dorky in an insta-second. And he''s dead sexy when he''s focused and about to swim, or cheering on his teammates. But when he smiles or talks- whoosh, it''s gone.

AQ- I will enable you, if you enable me! Being on this thread and NOT TTC makes me feel like I''m trying to swim one way, and everyone else is swimming the other way. And plus all my BFF''s are pretty much trying. So it''s getting hard to hold out. Definitely wait for the right time for you guys, but like most people that have had kids say- you are NEVER going to be 100% ready. There will always be something you need to do, or want to do. I think your being bummed about waiting another month is a good sign. I knew I was getting ready when I started getting irrationally angry at my BCP. So take your time, but really, I think after this pack of pills you should just jump in! It could take us awhile, you know? Oh, and I actually love the idea of twins, but reading about all the extra complications on the preggo board just freaked me out.

And DD- I didn''t realize that you were already preggo! Congrats- and how cool of you to hang around and "teach" us clueless ones.

Man, the husbands certainly get the better end of this bargain, don''t they? F-statisc-ing, or baby-dancing every day (or every other), plus NOT having to be the ones to gain weight and get butt acne???? (I have been lurking on the preggo board). Hmph.

Amber - HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

eta - I am SUPER bloated today. Feh.

"Amber - HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA"-
-quoting LittleLysser!

Ditto. Amber, may I ask, what do you "do" IRL? I think you have missed a calling somewhere. You are frakking hysterical. And now I want to ride Michael Phelps like a dolphin. In a total non-sexual way, of course. Maybe after the Olympics he can get a job at Sea World and be it''s newest attraction.
