OMG!!

My first official post in this thread!!! yay! but.........scary. I started reading the first page then jumped, too much to read right away and the jargon, the percentages the charts...........blimey!

Anyways, we have officially decided, as of yesterday that now is the time. So before we make a start, I''m going to get myself organised and do my thorough research. So, heading down to Boots - a large pharmacy chain in the UK - to get some folic acid tabs and planning my food and exercise.

Can''t believe we''re actually going for it.
Yay, another Brit.

Have you signed up to Fertility Friend? Then you can play with charts.

Don''t forget to pick up a Basal Body Temperature thermometer in Boots.

DD - Not that I''m here to tell anyone how to live their life...but you''ve got a real skill in understanding and explaining this whole fertility ''thing.''

I know it isn''t your profession, but man, you got some skills!! And patience and, from what I can tell, passion!
LOL! You forgot strangely obsessive in your list
2.gif
I do love this stuff, but I also tend to get kind of obsessed with whatever I research (diamonds anyone??) and since I am a professor by trade, I guess the ''splainin'' just comes naturally.

In case anyone thinks I am too mental, writing all that out only took about 15 mintes.

Okay, maybe that doesn''t help my cause at all

Is obsessive a characteristic of most of us here on PS?

I''m definitely an obsessive by nature and can easily become consumed by my latest interest or several concurrent interests.

I never feel uncomfortable about this on PS, whereas in real life I am often made to feel a bit odd about my need to know about things in great detail. I don''t dare tell people I''m going to minutely understand every detail about TTC by the time I get there as they will think I''m a)weird b) will stress unnecessarily (in fact it''s the opposite) and c) did I mention weird

Ok, so now I have a technical question for you research hounds.

So, my temp today was HIGH. Like 98.24. Higher than my previous three temps, which were all between 97.77 and 97.79.

I''m tempted to discard the temp, as we stayed up WAY too late and I didn''t really get a good three hours of sleep beforehand. I also woke up, started moving around, adjusting pillows and all that - before I remembered to take my temp.

Well, after adding the higher temp, FF changed my O day...and made it CD 18 instead of CD 17.

I really feel like this one lone high weirdo temp is because of my lack of sleep and activity...

Should I discard it??

I know how easy it is to get caught in the details of FF and charting, but in the end it probably doesn''t matter whether you discard it or not... it doesn''t change whether you get preggo or not really, and that one day difference in O-day won''t affect your due date etc. But girl I sure know it is annoying to have inconsistencies, so before you decide consider a couple things a) in the past have you noticed that your temp is afected by your wakeup time/amount of sleep? If yes, then maybe discard, but if no, then leave it in; b) if you add another "normal" temp tomorrow, then does it move your O-day again?; c) try setting the program to detemine o-day based on FAM and see what happens, does it go back to the original O-day?; d) try adding a temp for tomorrow that is high like todays and see what happens--many women have a tri-phasic pattern where temps in the LP show another jump to a higher level after the initial post-O jump; e) What does your CF suggest? Most women will dry up after O, so what was your CF like on CD-18? Some women have fertile CF the day after O (like me and Robbie), but it may look a little different than pre-O CF (mine got a little whiter, like half way between EW and creamy).

In the end, like I said, none of the realllllllly matters, but maybe some of these things will clarify the situation. Indy had a similar but WORSE issue where her O day was predicted 4 DAYS differently depending on whether she used FF''s default settings of FAM setting (like TCOYF) and this caused her much confusion
28.gif
. In my really short cycle wit hthe short LP, I also had an issue like this where the O-day was not clear. This is why you keep on bd-ing until O is confirmed, because it is more art that science when identifying the EXACT O-day.

9.gif
Thanks, DD. I''m going to make a note "page 105" to remember that I need to go back and read your posts next time I get confused. I''m sure it''ll happen again!

Is anyone using instead cups as a fertility aid? The girls on the fertility friend boards rave about them. I went to pick some up from Wal-Mart because I figure, hey, it can''t hurt, but I couldn''t find them and the woman I asked had no idea what I was talking about.

For those of you who don''t know what they are, they''re a pad/tampon alternative (www.softcup.com) that''s supposed to be much better for you. I remember learning about them in a women''s studies class in college. Inserting one after BDing keeps the sperm right by the cervix, giving them more time and also allows you to get up and get moving right away without having to worry about a mess.

I just ordered them from the website since I couldn''t find them at Wal-Mart, but my stupid paypal account had my old address
8.gif
. Hopefully it won''t be an issue for them to change that.

that sounds like the mooncup http://www.mooncup.co.uk/ which you can buy here in the UK

They do seem to be very similar. It looks like the mooncup is reusable though. I wonder if it works as well as the instead cup supposedly does for conception.

ETA: I just looked at the pics for both and the mooncup doesn't sit right up by your cervix like the instead cup does, so it probably wouldn't work as well for this purpose.

DD - I'm not sure it really matters either...but ya know, for the sake of correct charting, I wondered what every one else's thoughts were...Oh, and I had EWCM through day 19, so it definitely doesn't go away immediately after O.

Robbie - I've never heard of one of those cups, although it seems kind of gimmicky to me. I believe it was Ebree who said that the sperm can only live for five minutes unless they get up in the CM. I think her doctor told her this and basically debunked the whole laying with your legs in the air thing for 1/2 an hour. So take that for what it is worth! I definitely see the benefit in terms of less mess though.

THAT is one my least favorite things about this whole TTC thing.

Oh I know what you mean, it is super annoying to have an "unknown" variable or to be left with a question mark at all. I would be tempted to leave the one high temp until you see what you get tomorrow. If you are high tomorrow, then it may represent a true shift to higher temps, if tomorrow is back into your lower range, then you could discard it?

Hmmm...It can't hurt to try especially since I already ordered them
1.gif
. Plus, that's where the CM comes from so perhaps there'd be enough right there to keep them alive while they get where they need to be.

Today is officially CD 1 now. I've decided that I'm just going to consider last cycle to be practice. This one's the real deal though
2.gif

ETA, this means that I O'd on cd 14, 15 or 16 (most likely 15). I'll be so psyched if I O that early this cycle. My avg is CD 20.

Robbie I''m sorry about AFF showing her face! But now I think there are about 5 people in the TTC group on almost the exact same cycle, so this should be a fun and interesting month for everyone!

How fun would it be if we all got bfp''s at the same time?!

Finger''s crossed for that!

I''m on CD 4, so there are a lot of us around the same dates. Since we only decided to try on CD13 last month we''re regarding it as practice as well ;-)

Interesting on the cup-idea. I ordered a load of pre-seed along with the POAS tests ($2 for 20 - how good is that!) and my thermometer.

The 2 week wait S#CKS!!!!!!!

Hi everyone
35.gif
Another quick drive by for me since today is going to be hectic at work. I was so hoping to sign on this morning and see a postive preggos test from somebody!
38.gif
Ugh, that AFF really just needs to go find some other people to bother...seriously!?
29.gif

Mela, HIL, Pandora and Robbie - a fresh start is always a good thing so, take everything as lessons learned and best of luck to you gals this next cycle!

Ebree - great news on the follies!! Go folllies, go follies, go follies go!!!
36.gif

Littlelysser and NYC - I see you''re both knitting away...lots of baby dust to you both!

Po10472 - WELCOME!
9.gif

DD - what would we do without you? Thank you for all your great advice and knowledge!

Well, I''m on CD 17 and got my first positive OPK this morning. DH and I have been BDing every other day since last week, but we''ll be aiming for everyday until O has been confirmed.

I''ve had that happen a few times too. I haven''t discarded the temp, but found that the next morning (or after 2 mornings) when my temps are more in their normal range that FF moved the O date back. You may notice that today or tomorrow.

Well, to update the exciting and riveting saga of my temps, today's temp was 97.82...back in the normal range. I think yesterday was just a hiccup.

TT and DD - I won't discard the temp. I did some playing around and if my temp stays where it is for another day or so, it changes my O date back to CD 17. Weirdo thing.

So, I am SUPER excited. I'm going to Chicago tomorrow - total last minute thing - to hang with my bestie for a bit. Her DH is out of town, so we are going to do a super cheapo girl's hangout type time. Plus, I get to hang with her daughter mae, who is about 18 months...cute as pie. SO YAY! I figure it'll make the knitting go by MUCH faster! I'll still be here about as much as usual though...I'm bringing my laptop!

NYC - I hate the TWW. It just sucks. And since my cycle has been so wonkadoo, I don't even know when to expect AFF. Grrrrrr.

Amber - How was the game?

BB - Good luck!!!!

Robbie - you'll have to tell me how you like the cups!

Alright, off to ellipticize. I'm currently watching the movie Singles while I work out. I LOVED that movie back in the day.

Morning all!

Today is CD1, I''m really glad to know my cycle is back to "normal" after last cycle''s delayed AFF. I am so tired this morning, DH has to go back to school, and since we carpool I have to wake up earlier now.
7.gif
Booooo. I''m also feeling a sinus infection coming along.

We had such a good time on Saturday at the baseball game! It was a close one going an extra inning- and yes, we lost, but DH and his friend said they hadn''t seen a game with that many fantastic defensive plays, so they were happy. We also got to see fireworks there, which were a-fricken-mazing!!

We have had this Aquafina bottle full of change that has been sitting around, so we took it in to the store and turned it in- 71 dollars worth of change! Awesome!

Hope everyone is doing well this morning!

blushing: sounds like you guys are doing all that you can! sprinkle, sprinkle

LittleL: good to hear that your body has cooled off a tad. and i''m exceedingly jealous that you are going to get such a fun distraction (chicago w/ friend) during your ttw.

btw: mae is definitely a top contender for us as a name!!

robbie: i guess those cups things can''t hurt...

amber: boo to the sinus infection, i am actually fighting off the beginnings of a cold myself. i woke up sunday feeling less than stellar, but this morning not so bad. maybe it won''t get a chance to take hold.

I''m at DPO 6 - but am facing a sort of POAS dilemna...this saturday, DH and I are headed off to N. Carolina for vacation. A week of leisure at the ocean. i know some dilemna
9.gif
. but also in attendance will be my yonger brother, his wife and my father...SO, I really want to know if it''s a yah or nay BEFORE we get there. I do realize that this is not in my control, but should I test on Friday (DPO 10) which is really early? test while in NC? or just wait until we get home (like that''s going to happen)

I vote that you test friday and also take some tests with you along with some Dixie cups. How fun to spill the beans when you are all together if this is your month!

hi gals!

AF came today, and i'm thrilled. i know, kinda wierd for a TTC thread post. but it means that my cycles are back to being consistent. i went off the pill at the end of 2007, and have experienced a number of long-ish cycles. i tried temping/charting early this year, but it was frustrating- the temps were all over the place. i'm almost postive that i didn't ovulate for at least 2 cycles.

i'm posting this info in case it helps someone else who's trying to figure out when to go off the pill to prep for TTC. Some background- i'm 36 (37 tomorrow- OY!), and have been on/off the pill for about 15 years.

cycle 1- 40 days
cycle 2- 36 days
cycle 3- 35 days
cycle 4- 36 days
cycle 5- 28 days
cycle 6- 30 days
cycle 7- 29 days

We're still on the fence in regards to when to begin TTC-ing, so hope y'all don't mind if i continue to lurk & hang out until we take the plunge! I've been super wishy-washy when it comes to temping, so i need a good kick in the pants to get started on that.

sending baby vibes to all!

Ebree - sorry for the delay but I was rather busy yaking in the car over the weekend

Great response to stims!

Anything over 18 mm on Clomid is "mature" but they can grow until you O about 1-2 mm/day.

Follicles O around 22-24 mm naturally.

On inj. FSH anything over 16 mm is considered "mature" go figure.

Anything larger is prob. a cyst.

Re. lining the RE told me they like to see 7-8 mm thicknes w/ triple layer visible.

Lining looks "homologous" until it thickens and then you can see the 3 layers of cells.

Honestly, from my recent exp. the RE would probably bump up your dose to get at least 2 sizeable follies vs 1 (the 18x23mm) if no pg. occurs.

But all u need is 1!!

They told me its better to start up on higher doses to prepare the egg and taper afterwards then ramp up slowly (effects meitotic division of genes - maturation)

I think a medicated cyle w/o trigger shot is harder to gauge but can be just as effective.

Heres' to catching that eggie!

ETA - the cycle I got pg. my follies were 1@21mm, 1@17mm, 1@16mm, 1@15mm & 2@13mm on trigger day. RE said "you just may get twins"
23.gif

EETA - I think the OB took into acct. your age (being way younger than me) and doesn't want you popping more that 1-2 eggs. At 39 most of my eggs could be spoild so having 4 contenders is a good thing whereas if I were 5-10 yrs younger they would have cancelled me!

Hi Ladies! Delurking to post this website I found the other day when I was yahooing searching: www.twoweekwait.com

Under early pregnancy symptoms, women have submitted their two week symptoms for others to see and it''s several pages long. It helps get through the 2 WW!

Hope this helps!

I know this might be TMI, but since we are in the process of "catching the egg," I was curious. What''s your method of doing the F-tastic? Meaning, are you like DD and Bleim who BD''d every day leading up to O (starting at least 6 days before) and then the day after? Do you prefer to BD every other day leading up to O? Or do you just wing it and try and BD when you can, but with no rhyme or reason.

We started BDing every other day since last Thurs. and now that I got a positive OPK this morning, I''m kicking myself for not covering our bases last night. I didn''t think I was close to Oing so soon, but had a feeling it might be coming close since last month I O''d earlier than normal. My O-date has been on CD 21, 22 and 24, but last month while we were in Europe, I definitely O''d around CD 18 (but not 100% sure which day since I wasn''t temping - I know it was around CD 19 or CD 20 because when we returned home from Europe I took an OPK test and it was positive on CD 18 and 19.

Anyway, just wondering what you all prefer to do in order to catch that egg!

thanks february!

i feel bloated today
however, much more likely than being an early pregnancy symptom, it's probably the result of a few ice cream sandwiches this weekend
11.gif

blusing: DH and I opted for the everyday approach starting from two days before o thru one day after o...

DD and robbie: i think that's my plan - DD: is using a dixie cup better than let's call it stream contact?
