I did talk get an update from Pete... which wasn''t necessary apparently as his price has remained constant for this setting. Even with the new changes I''ve made. They are so great there.

No flags, if the cloud isn''t visible I''d be all over that puppy. You tend to talk yourself out of things though. I don''t really. So, I can''t advise.

Cushion/ asscher debate is mostly wishful thinking. LOL. Honestly I went to a jeweler today (wanted my ring cleaned. Must get that ultrasonic)... and I really have been looking at it these last couple weeks and well. I think a halo might really fix the problem. This incidentally, was the FIRST jeweler in within a 20 mile radius of my house that at least figured out that it was a step cut.

. Of course that''s probably because he didn''t just assume it was a princess because of the shape, and actually LOOKED at it.

Looks pretty good to me. I have to say. I looked at the pic very hard and I can''t see the inclusion. If he is willing to have it taken to Nancy Stacy (SP) for an evalutaion, that would be the best way to go. I think the traps look great, but kind of hard to judge from the few pics we have been given. There has to be a way to work this out. Could be a great deal.

You''re right, Gypsy, about me getting all excited about a project and then questioning the wisdom of the choice to be made. Must be an age-related thing.

Still no pics from Tom Hunt but he''s on west coast time so maybe later.

Any pics, Isabel?

Yes, wallermama, I received pics this morning. I haven''t posted them because I want to talk to the jeweller first and also they have to be re-sized

for posting.

I must be one of those people who is very colour sensitive because even in this G I can see a light yellow tinge from the side of the asscher and I want to talk to Mr. Hunt about this as he now has the ring at his place of business.

I phoned him and left a message, but he hasn''t called back yet.

Stay tuned for updates

isaku,
can''t wait to see the pics. i serious would take what you see in a picture on your computer with a grain of salt. everyone''s monitor''s are different and you just cannot judge completely the color based on what you see in pics. Good idea to talk to mr. hunt though and can''t wait to see what else you find out..

Hi Mrssalvo...I just talked to Mr Hunt and he and a colleague of his both confimed that they are not colour sensitive and tried to persuade me that a G colour in an asscher particularly would probably have a hint of colour especially from the sides. Face up, it''s very white.

I''ll see whether PS will post a couple of the pics he sent.

Thanks for your interest as always.

Can't wait to see the pics!

I'm fairly color sensitive. Or so I thought. Until I just compared my D asscher to an I royal asscher and was blown away by how little color I saw in the I. So I guess I'm color ignorant, or not as bothered as I thought I would be. I would have snapped that I up in a second flat.

Color of a diamond in any picture is a function of too many factors, monitor set up being the last but not least.
The point is you don't want to base your opinion on today's shirt chose of the picture taker. Even pictures taken in Dome have some color influence.

OH there is no way that is a realistic G...there has to be someone wearing a yellow shirt or in a yellow room or something. That thing looks more like an S or something according to the picture. It can''t be accurate.

Funny, i just opened next photo to re-size and Ta-Da! Here is you "yellow" platinum...

oh and MAN that ring is stunning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i love it!

no kidding! it''s a beaut!

ohmygosh
that ring is absolutely beautiful!

Color balanced a bit here; i have pointed to tiny prong injury that i think can be easily repaired.

PS administrators,

Thanks so much for posting the pics. You''ve probably hit on the problem - yellow shirt, room, whatever....

You would think that the jeweller who would no doubt profit from the sale would be much more careful with the pics he sends?????

Anyway, I don''t want to take a chance with a purchase involving so much $$$$, so I think I''ll just pass on that one.

Passing on it, huh? I totally understand...it''s a little scary to consider purchasing such a major item directly from an individual. But man, it is GORGEOUS!!!!

I can understand your hesitancy but

Okay!

heheh. Reminds me of a mag article I read last year about a group of 10-12 women who pooled their money for a 100K diamond necklace (or thereabouts) and then take turns wearing it. We need an arrangement like that!

Wallermama, Kristy Darling....Thank you so much for your offers of ''visitation" etc. and special thank you to wallermama for finding that baby in the first place.

I phoned Tom Hunt and asked him about the possibility of the yellow colour coming from the walls, his shirt etc. but he had no comment about that and didn''t offer to take anymore "clean" pictures. He also admitted that he could see "some body colour" in the asscher, but that it was normal for a G particularly in an asscher cut stone. BS alert!!!!!!

BUT, there is good news as well, I''m going back to the 2.26 GOG asscher that I should have stayed with in the first place.

Jonathan, being the kind, understanding guy that he is will take me back as a customer and luckily the 2.26 is still available.. YAY!!! Jacob (Jonathan''s jeweler of choice) will do the halo; Jon has great confidence in Jacob''s ability to do it right.

So now mrssalvo''s line:" A deal is only a deal if you get exactly what you want" will come true and DancingFire''s " mind clean stone" will apply as well.

Thank you everyone for your support through all the "diversions". Now a choice between 2 halo settings?

#1 ??

#2...??

i''m in for $10 on the beautiful local asscher ring if any other PS''ers want to pony up the other $33990?!?!!

#2, love it and am so happy you are getting the 2.26. I adore that stone, and know Jon''s designer will do a great job for you. That''s great it was still available!!!! So excited for you!!!

Isabel, all is well that ends well, it was meant to be, even if you had to go down alternative paths for a bit. I like #2 as well, I do not LOVE the milgraine/bezel look of the first one. CONGRATS and I cannot wait to see this baby!

Does design#1 even have a halo, or is it an optical illusion????

Thanks, diamondfan.....I''d eliminate all the "beading?" from the #1 setting.

I love #2....

congrats!

Number 2. Is that Jacob''s rendering? Or someone elses, BTW?

Hi Gypsy....So sorry that you''re aching all over and feeling blue.....It happens to all of us now and again. The solution that seems to work for me is getting out of the house and having lunch with DH. Any place will do as long as it''s NOT at home.

As far as #2 goes, it was a Canadian designer whose name or province I was never given. I contacted a jewellery store here in Ontario and they arranged for the design based on pictures I sent them of the DK setting and the Gypsy/ Irina setting. I have done business with that store in the past, but their price to set the asscher was just too high.
