Consider me a diamond rookie before you proceed

Is it feasible for a canadian(toronto) to buy a diamond from the US?

are there any canadian sites that can offer the high quality/great prices that all the US sites can offer?

I am kind of reluctant to buy from canada and am really considering making a trip to the US to purchase a ring....am I crazy.

I am considering a high quality ~1.0ct. round or princess cut diamond, on one of the vatche surprise diamon X prong settings.

For starters I don't know of any one offering the vatche rings in Canada....am I wrong?

can someone give me some guidance so i make the right decision!!!

When you're bringing a diamond to Canada you pay 10% excise tax + GST+PST = 25%.

Hi guys,

went out today to a local jeweler for some quotes etc....

he had 2 diamonds available to show me, both princess cut:

size: 0.92
clarity: vs2
color: G
cut: very good
price: $5500(CAN)

#2

size: 1.22
clarity: vs2
color: F
cut: good
price: $8000(CAN)

both diamonds had these specs on the reports from i believe gem stone labs (or something like that)

any thoughts on these??
