The kittens are here!

God they are lovely! Hope they turn out social and friendly! Enjoy their 'childhood', they grow up so fast!

Thank you Crasru! They are a delight. Dante is a bit shy with strangers - he's definitely a momma's boy, but Kipling is super social and curious. I had some issues with the breeder not being as communicative as I wanted, but I have to say - she did a standout job in socializing them. Our boys love being picked up, held (I hold them like a baby a lot too!), they are total lovebugs and love snoozing on our laps or right next to us, and they're just wonderful.

It's kind of sad though - looking back at pictures I took from when we had just gotten them and looking at their recent pictures, they have grown so much and lost that adorable kitten awkwardness. I have no idea when that happened!

I haven''t but I do see her at work so she shows me pictures and gives me updates.. And since we had to put our Hannah down, I just can''t go see Brutus right now. I''m super emotional with animals right now...

Oh hun, I''m so sorry about Hannah

I know it''s tough, but hang in there. You know we''re here for you!

Thanks sweetie.. I know. Its hard when Bailey is still searching for her buddy, too.

We went to the shelter and I found a very vocal light grey & black marked bengal.. he was separated from all the other cats because he was aggressive. I''m wondering now if it was because he was left outside like Brutus was and he became a little wild. I felt bad for him talking in the little room by himself. His adoption specs said no other pets and no kids. Poor guy. But his markings were gorgeous.

I understand. It''s such a tough situation. We lost our Chihuahua, who had been with us for 13 years, a couple weeks before Thanksgiving. It really hit my mom hard (he was her dog more than anyone else''s). She has a new puppy now and the healing process has begun, but I know she still misses Cocoa a LOT.

Would you be wanting to adopt a grown Bengal, or get a kitten, eventually? I know a lot of breeders sell or adopt out their retired breeders - though a lot of them aren''t recommended for a multi-cat household. If you''re interested, I researched and contacted a LOT of breeders during my process, and I''d be happy to give you the names.

I think I am going to wait until we get into our forever house before we decide to get another animal.. if I get a bengal, I''ll get 2, like you did.. so they can grow up together. I''d like to get another dog someday, but I think I''m going to try looking into a rescue dog or the shelter. I''m not sure.. Tonight Bailey sat where Hannah''s bed was again and when we were cooking steak outside (where Hannah loved to be with us) she kept looking for her. It just made me cry all over again. I miss my girl.. its just that simple. :''(

So sorry SD. Hang in there (and give Bailey lots of love!).

Just wanted to post an update that Kipling is doing MUCH better, though we are going back to the vet tomorrow so he can check the sutures (Kipling has been doing serious contortions to clean himself and his cone is rubbing against the sutures).

Here''s a pic of his poor tummy about a day after the surgery.

And this is how thin he was when we got him back. He''s still fairly thin now (when he used to be so plump) but he''s eating more.

Looking so sad and pitiful

Dante, on the other hand, is perfectly fine and loving all the extra treats and wet food both are getting because of Kipling.

Thanks Yssie!

And looking woeful and betrayed is NOTHING compared to him coming and letting out the most piteous weak meow out of that cone while looking up at me.

I just noticed today that there are kitten teeth marks on my external HD USB. Dante''s work

yeeesh, the closeup of Kiplings suture''s gave me the heebeejeebees. So glad he''s doing better, especially eating and regaining his weight. Is that silvery sheen on Dante''s legs & feet what is referred to as "glitter"?

Oh BEG the new pics are so gorgeous - what cutie pies

Poor kipling...im glad he''s doing better now...kitties always look so forlorn with the cone on their heads, they look at you like ''You did this to me!''

Thanks Matata!

The silvery sheen isn't glitter - it's just his markings, but Dante is actually glittered. I can see that his fur is gold-tipped. It's kind of funny because I think Kipling has a prettier face but Dante definitely has the nicer coat

ETA: I think the silvery sheen you're picking up is from his white markings - it's darkened somewhat, but the boys' mother is white-tummied so I think the boys have a bit more of a contrast between their back and stomachs.

I know!! I felt awful after we got them back - so guilty. And it''s worse because you can''t explain to them that the pain and discomfort is for their own good
7.gif
He''s doing super well today - almost too well because now he''s tearing around the house bumping his cone into things

How is Kipling doing now? I just had to drop in to see. Poor guy.

Aww HVVS thanks for asking! He is actually doing great! Aside from the sutures and shaved tummy, you wouldn't even think he had had surgery. He's been running around and romping with Dante like he did before the surgery, and his appetite is completely back to normal.
1.gif

ETA: He's supposed to have his cone on for a few more days but about 2 days ago, he managed to get it off. There's no way it's staying on now!

Yaaay, good boy Kipling! Now go fatten up!

BEG...are your kittens bengals? They are so adorable! I have a bengal and an aby. They are both 3 1/2 years old and they are both a handful...but I enjoy them very much.

Hey Tannet! They are indeed - it''s always good to meet a fellow Bengal owner!
