Oh, I love seeing the new pictures!

BrightIce...your home is so pretty! Love the chocolate walls and all the pretty furniture and drapes! And that killer back yard! Love it!

Circe...gorgeous floors, love the high ceilings and big windows that let so much light in!

ksinger...nice antiques! Looks like your buffet is all ready for us to come over!

lil...beautiful room! Love the leather sofa with the window treatments and wall color!

Love all the beautiful home photos!! Thanks so much for sharing.
Here are some photos of our NYC apt. These were taken a few years ago though so some of it is different (new tvs, etc.) but basically here it is. We totally gutted the interiors when we purchased in 2003 and renovated over a 3 month period. Our contractor was amazing as he did everything we wanted within the exact time period he promised!

All the ceiling fixtures are original from the twenties/thirties/forties and we collected them over a period of about 6 years from an antiques dealer in New Hope. The dining room table is mahogany from the 30's or 40's (not sure) from my grandparents dining room that was lovingly restored by my dh. The end tables in the livingroom and library are also originals from that time period also from my grandparents with the exception of one that we bought at an antique shop. The library bookcases were built by my dh as were all the radiator covers in the apt.

Please excuse any clutter/mess as when I took these photos a few years ago I was not intending to share them.

Thanks for looking.

Continued...

last photo is of our previous beach house that we also totally gutted and renovated- the photo is of our kitchen. We sold that house last March and hope to renovate our current beach house kitchen sometime in the distant future. But I loved our kitchen in Sea Girt and miss it!

Here are some photos (that I already shared in another thread but for those who are interested) of our new beach house...
2nd pic is mislabeled as it is of the dining room.
The beach house kitchen is a real country kitchen...not my style but it does fit the house. We just need to renovate a bit to increase workspace in there and change a few things to suit my (our) taste.

Missy- I Loovvveee your beach house! The exposed brick wall and exposed ceiling beams are to die for. If you are in NYC, where is your beach house? Long Island? Love it. My aunt is in Oyster Bay...its so beautiful over there.

Its so funny actually, because its completely different than your apartment. Your apartment in nyc is so contemporary, and the beach house is so rustic. Its a totally different feel, I love it! (can you tell I am more into the rustic/traditional feel of homes? Lol)

Thank you NakedFinger! Yes, the 2 styles are very different. I love both styles though. The beach house is at the Jersey Shore.

My main problem when we finally move from NYC to the beach house full time (probably won't be for at least a decade or so) will be how to incorporate some of the NYC furniture and light fixtures I love into the beach house. My grandparents dining room table (which extends by the way so it can fit 14 people at least) just won't fit well into our beach house dining room but I love it so much and it has great sentimental value so not sure how we are going to handle that. I didn't take pics of all our antique light fixtures from our NYC apt but those too are going to be a problem incorporating. I love them so and we really took a long time saving up for each one that I cannot think of leaving them or selling them. But there I go again, worrying about the future when I should just be living in the moment and enjoying today LOL.

Missy, your living spaces in all you houses are gorgeous!!! Wow, you have a knack for decorating!

Not to be creepy at all, but I was lurking on this thread and being incredibly jealous, and I realized I live in your neighborhood! Your apt. is gorgeous! Now back to sad rental oblivion I go...

Thanks so much swingirl but I really don't think I have a knack at all. But I appreciate the compliment very much thanks!

The co-op is full of things we love and is all very eclectic in style I think. And my dh and I really didn't agree on everything LOL especially leaving most of the floors uncovered. I hate rugs and love bare wood floors so my dh acquiesced on that issue and I compromised a bit and we have 2 area rugs there (living room and library).

I chose all the paint colors in the co-op by going through home design magazines and purchasing paints and painting large areas to see how it would look. I wanted bright and airy and I am happy with the colors in the NYC apt. My dh wanted to hire a decorator but I refused as I just wanted it to look like us if you know what I mean and not perfect like in a magazine. Initially my dh didn't care for the big areas of space in the dining room living room but I think it works and I think he agrees now.

As far as the beach house goes it is all very simple. The colors were already chosen by the previous owners and we didn't change them as of now. At first I didn't care for them (mainly browns and grays) as they were the opposite of bright and cheerful but they have really grown on me and now I think I will be keeping most of them. It's funny how tastes can change once you live in a space for a while. Now I think the colors are very well suited to that space whereas at first I did not. As far as the upstairs it is all carpeted and I am hoping in the future to convince my dh to put in wood floors but for now we are living with it and I must say it is nice to walk barefoot on carpet in the bedroom. It is a foreign feeling for me and I am enjoying it! I hate vacuuming carpet though- It's tough!

Novel, not creepy at all LOL! I was wondering if anyone would recognize the area as it is pretty popular. :wavey:
If you are ever in need of apt hunting help I'm your gal! I love apt hunting and my dh says that I do have a talent for that so...let me know...I would love to do that with you!!

This is our dining area, the only area of our loft that is "done" (or close to it!) Like someone earlier, we also have the big sur table from C&B, and we painted the wall behind a slate grey because the white chairs were blending in too much. Chairs and mirror are from West Elm and the frames and cabinet are from IKEA (which I spruced up with some clearance anthropologie knobs)

Our place is all one big space (the bedroom is behind the dining area, you can kind of see it, it is elevated with a half height wall. There are things we love about our place...the spaciousness, the exposed brick, etc. but since its a rental we can't do TOO much. We'd love to replace the carpet with hardwood but not going to happen :)

Great loft! Lofts can be really interesting, and yours is cool and also comfy looking.

Oh, Missy, the best of both worlds...NYC and a beach house! I love them both but especially love the character of the beach house with all the wood and brick, etc!

Rockzilla...you have done a great job decorating your loft!

LilMisfit -- I think I have the same throw pillows you do. Mine are a bit smaller and rectangular but it looks like they have the same pattern.

Missy -- I LOVE your NYC apt. and your beach house. Gorgeous! Your apt. looks so spacious.

Rockzilla, love your loft!

Holly, c'mon over. Just give me some notice so I can clean up. With 4 cats I definitely need to vacuum right before guests come because those hairballs do accumulate with alarming speed LOL.

Thanks diamondseeker. We do enjoy having both right now but we are going to downsize to one home when we are ready to retire as it is a lot of upkeep having them both. Of course, if we win the lottery all bets are off... :cheeky:

Thanks Zoe! When my dh and I got engaged my main requirement was that we have enough space as I have a theory about couples and space. Very important for me that we each have our own bathrooms and extra space (my dh has his manroom and I have my exercise room) to keep our marriage tranquil and loving. I love my dh but I need some space not to be on top of him all the time KWIM LOL!

Thanks Sparkly! I need to take some more pics. I had a whole bunch of them from when we first moved in and painted, but so many things have changed since them.

I love seeing all of the rooms!!!! Keep 'em coming! That beach house is awesome, Misssy!
