Hello everyone, Should say HOLLOWAY IDEAL

I have been studying this site and have been entering all AGS stones into the Cut adviser and have found 1 Canadian diamond that is excellent across the board. How ever the cert. from AGS is a 1 not a zero. Which cut info should I really look at, AGS 1 or Holloway?
Stats are below as per AGS
Table 58
depth 59.7
crown 34.0
pavil 40.7
SI1
0.73
Color F

The diamond is likely to be quite pretty, the "one cut" is due to the table diameter being 58% which is 0.5% off of the requirements for the ideal cut rating, the crown and pavilion angle measurements are right where you want them to be so the stone is probably drop dead gorgeous!

R&T, is it also possible it is a 1 because of symmetry or girdle thickness etc?
Or do they auto drop to AGS 3?
(Forgive my ignorance and laziness)

The AGS system is based on some general consideration about diamonds and not as fit to judge each individual stone as the HCA is. Any system based on thresholds would suffer from this ill. So? i'd take HCA's word any time.

This is in fact why I like PS that much !

The zero category for girdle thickness spans from thin to slightly thick... To be a one cut for girdle it would have to be very thin at any point... It would have to be thick at any point to be AGS-3. But we based our opinion on the information provided which is the 58% girdle, AGS-1 specifications for the table diameter is a range of 57.6 - 59.5%.

Of course, you're right, it could also be AGS-1 due to polish or symmetry but we're assuming that it's a proportions call based on the information provided.

But it could be AGS 1 and have 3 reasons for being downgraded?
Table slightly large (which in my view is not a worry), symmetry and slightly too thin girdle?

All the more reason to use the services of an appraiser

LOL

By the subject line, I thought this thread would have been very different.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to help me out. Any idea what price should be attached to such a diamond?

You can do your own searches here on PS to find the lowest offers and then decide what level of service / trust / support the vendor is providing. It is your choice to pay the vendors price - there is no RRP
