Guys,

I'm the kind of person who will spend hours researching which GPS / laptop / car to buy and which flights / hotel / restaurant to book to make sure I end up with the best I can for the money I spend… normally its quite a stress-free experience… until I started searching for a diamond…

There is so much to learn and eventually you realise you have to trust someone to advise you – now that’s where I have a problem… I have narrowed my current selection down to two stones at two different vendors… and no single person can give me an unbiased opinion on both. That’s why I really need your help!

You guys seem like one of the most informed online communities I’ve ever seen – and I would truly appreciate if you could help me decide between the following two stones and help educate me on why you feel one is better than the other:

1) 1.53ct F VS1 “Solasfera” Princess
http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/7841/

2) 1.54ct F VS1 “A CUT ABOVE®” Super Ideal Princess
http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut-loose-diamond-2810560.htm

Which is better? Which would you buy (if any)?

Many thanks in advance,
UKUK

I think a lot of us are just like you and we came here for the same reasons! I was going to recommend Good Old Gold and WhiteFlash, but I see you already found their outstanding stones! I love both vendors and think they have outstanding diamonds! I cannot pick between those two because either would be a fantastic choice! :appl: Do you have any ideas for the setting? Because that might sway one to one vendor or the other if they have the setting you want.

Ditto to what DS said. The stones are both great (though I'm no princess expert!). It comes down to which place has your/her dream setting. You've done a nice job finding the stones!

Omg I friggin love the Solasfera. Their princesses are TDF, and I am NOT a princess kinda girl.

You have picked out 2 really nice stones. Most people would be thrilled with either so I'm just going to point out what
I see.

I love Solasfera but this one seems to have a fairly prevalent dark area in the middle. I would want to see a video
to see how that dark area reacted as the stone moved. I would not be happy with it if it always stay dark.

I think I like the faceting pattern on the ACA better.

So, I couldnt really say which one I would pick wihtout seeing a video of the Solasfera first.

Thanks guys - all very useful comments. I will request a video and post up here when it becomes available.

It is probably worth pointing out that the Solasfera is quite a lot more expensive than the other stone...

My eyes prefer the WF stone - the center of the GOG stone does not appeal to me, and certainly not for a more expensive price tag.

That WF stone though, just gorgeous. I love the Idealscope on it.

I agree with JG and tyty. Based on the images alone I prefer the WF stone.

Both Stones are beautiful. That being said, I would go for the WF diamond because you mentioned that the GOG diamond was a considerable amount more.

Are you sure you want a princess cut? What did your gf ask for?

I only ask because people may want square and we think the only option is princess when there are plenty more beautiful shapes like cushions, asschers, square H&A, etc. I am not a fan of princess cuts in terms of their strong pointy edges and proneness to chipping / breakage.

If the Solasfera is considerably more expensive, then the WF one for me. :$$):
