To premise, buying an engagement ring is a lot like buying a car, no? There are a lot of ins, a lot of outs, and a lot of what-have-yous... and a good amount of pushy folk who want to talk cod shit all day about how much better their stuff is than the next guy's.
It seemed to me, in my hunt for a diamond, that there was a disconnect between the jeweler, and the rocks they represented. It's kind of funny, in retrospect, that I didn't know about Good 'ol Gold's crazy deep entanglement into the wwweb before I went to their brick and mortar, but they finally filled the void.
One morning, I drove a few hours north, and a good buddy drove the same south, where we met in Long Island for lunch, some whiskey and cheers, and an afternoon with Jonathan at Good Old Gold in Long Island. He spent the afternoon talking about the science of diamonds, the art, and we played with some fancy gadgetry. When my friend and I left a few hours later, I felt educated, excited, and full of really good coffee.
Many thanks to the entire staff up there...it's been like a personal consierge service whenever I've called or emailed. Which was a lot.
So, check it out: my August Vintage Round 1.01 L VVS2 in an 18K custom Stuller Solstice setting.
Mahalo!
