Yeeeeee! Payment received and the diamond is mine!!!

Just spoke to Rachel form Leon Mege this morning and I should be getting some photos emailed today of the side stones Leon suggests: French cuts on the band, half moons and bullets.

(Now let''s see, I tried to crop the photo, to show only the correct diamond, but if I spazzed, then it''s the beautiful diamond on the right.)

Total spaz. Let''s try that agin.

Congratulations!! You made a great choice, its gorgeous!! Blinginator has the french cuts on the band - I love them!

It''s a heartbreaker

Thanks soooo much for saying that, you guys.

I''d love to know your opinions on my new setting direction.

The background first: So I talked to Leon today and had a great conversation. I''ll post the photo of the stone plus french cut diamonds tomorrow, as I can''t crop it for some reason on my computer but my hubby will do it on his.

So I''m again going in a totally different direction. Originally I got a quote on r971 for another center stone I was considering that was from James Allen. I then decided to keep it simple and instead get everything under one roof. Slightly risky (no trade up option, etc) but here was my reasoning: Leon''s aesthetics are impeccable. I mean, I''ve never come across an entire body of work that has been so thoroughly excellent. So I figured he wouldn''t have any in house diamonds that didn''t live up to that standard. And since the cushion cut has so much subjectivity, I just thought I''d go with the master''s eye.

By the way, I googled the GIA number to see if it came up anywhere else, and he charged me almost $900 less.

So then, once selecting this diamond, I asked if he could do anything he wanted with it, what would he do... and he immediately suggested the french cut side stones. Originally we thought to do a 5 stone ring, but in his opinion it became "too much".

So if I want to get a solitaire, it would be r4224. My first reaction was that it was a little plain... like when you look at all his outrageous pave work. But truth is that a plainer ring will work way better with my style.

BUT GET THIS- I asked about a wedding band as this ring is only "diamonded" over the top and explained my dream band is this beauty that is pictured below. I asked in his opinion would it work together, and he said it''s like one of the only cases that the styles would complement and not hurt each other. In other words, I totally received his blessing to wear 2 rings together.

So now I''m awaiting the quote (be still my beating heart) and will upload deliciousness tomorrow.

Kristalulu,

thanks so much for the heads up on Blinganator''s ring. That helps me soooooo much.

Missydebby, Leon does have a trade up policy. Here it is listed under his policies on his website:

Lifetime Upgrade Policy:
Any loose diamond purchased from Leon Mege may be exchanged for a 100% credit towards any replacement diamond of at least 50% more in value. The diamond being upgraded must be in it''s original condition and be accompanied by the original laboratory grading document.

I too am getting the diamond sourced by Leon and looked into this. This should make you feel even better!

Northyvr, what setting are you looking into?

Excuse me while I do my happy dance...

Yeeeeeeeeeee!
Bwahaha!

I think it will look awesome. What is your current ring? This is an upgrade, right? The Dutch are not going to know what hit them when you rock that big diamond over there! I love Amsterdam, btw, not sure where you live...

My current ring just just some ugly-ish little thing I got just so I could get out of the store. I was just in over my head and wanted to be done with it, you know? (totally pre-internet)

I might take out the poorly cut center .50 stone and have it set as a beautiful little pendant for my daughter. This Leon ring.... this will be my heirloom for her

Dreamer, I can''t tell you how happy I am you went for your J. I just have an inexplicable feeling that it belongs with you. Diamond ESP or something

Missydebby, I''m going with something a little more modern, the r1291 with a 1.5 carat centre diamond. Perry''s sourcing the stone for me also. Glad to hear he found you a good one!

Oh that''s so pretty! The diamonds leading up to the center stone are so beautiful!

Thanks Missydebby! I wear a Cartier Santos watch on my left wrist, so can''t get something vintage looking. I think this setting should do nicely!

Can''t wait to see how yours turns out. Before this forum I had never even heard of french cut diamonds before. They''re lovely and just a little bit different.

Oh that band will look beautiful with the Ering - perfect match, without being totally matchy matchy

Thanks yssie (by the way, loved your 1st response to the hater on Dreamer''s thread

) That''s what I thought with the 2 rings. And I have totally small fingers, so both together won''t overwhelm.

Northyvr, that will look *in singing voive* "Aweeeeeeesome" with your Santos. Totally classic and elegant. Great choice. (and I''m not just saying that)

Thanks! Though I'm finding it hard to concentrate on posting after seeing the Daniel Craig photos on the "So Tempting" thread!

He is my second boyfriend after Hugh Jackman, who is my first boyfriend. Not to be confused with my husband of course.

All wonderful choices, I''m sure!

northyvr - that''s a lovely setting.

I can''t wait to see what you decide on missydebby!

I would totally go with this solitaire setting! Its similar to the one that I''m getting - not Leon nor french cut stones, but a similar style. And the wedding band will look absolutely perfect with it!

Congrats!!

So are you getting r4224 and the matching band you posted?? Those will look so GORGEOUS! I''m really eyeing on the band you posted, just wondering the band may be a little too thin for me......
I also send the work order for my cushion to him yesterday, so we should be getting our bands in a similar time!
36.gif

MissyDebby-that is going to be one gorgeous ring!!! I am so excited for you. Blinginator''s ring is simply awesome as well, don''t you think? I love those french cuts! My goodness but it is going to be a

stunner! I hope you will post the shots of the stones he picks for you! Was it a hard decision for you? AND A LEON WEDDING BAND!!!!!!! You are one lucky girl!!!!! Plus the Leon ''blessing'' of wearing them

both together! It doesn''t get much better that that.

P.S. I looked up Leon''s facebook page this morning and saw a picture of him! I always wondered what he looked like. Of course, it didn''t match my imagination! He didn''t look like he eats small children though
9.gif

Gorgeous stone!

I also spoke to Leon today and he tried to get me to go the french cuts route too. I declined although I think its gorgeous but just not for this project.

My ideas received a thumbs down
7.gif
but I know he is right. He said he would do it but he doesn''t think I will like the result.

Oh my that stone is fantastic!! I can''t wait to see your completed Leon

OK guys, I am totally nutso... but I''ve been up all night (it''s now 4:25 for me) drawing out an idea that popped into my head. I am a semi-professional artist, so I may as well
2.gif

So I just emailed Leon my crazy ideas and I''ll let you know he thinks. I love the french cuts and the band r4224 with the antique calibre wedding band as well... so who knows?

Another picture of my beauty. Any suggestions for names?

Can you share your ideas and sketches? I would love to see them!

By the way, how long did it take for Leon to come back with a work order for you?
