Would really like a pair of emerald earrings.

Was looking at some Gabriella Kiss emerald drops that I posted in another thread but decided the emerald color wasn’t quite right.

This new pair in question is 18k, emerald and pearls. $3200. I’ve been warned that the design doesn’t sit “right (or as upright)” on many ears…Unfortunately I don’t live anywhere near the store to try on in person and 14 day return policy is for store credit only.

Modeled by the helpful store assistant:

Take a chance and buy and hope they look as good on my ears as on hers? My coloring (hair, complexion) is similar to hers, although I can’t speak to our ear piercing/earlobe likeness

I like the comparison with fuzzy caterpillars - they’re cute!

Do the earrings sit “upright” on her ears, in the vendor’s opinion? It doesn’t seem so, from what I’m seeing, so if that’s what they mean with their warning, I agree they look pretty okay.

They seem a little mature for what I infer to be your demo; I like the others a lot better.

I am not crazy about the design -- busy and complicated but not really harmonious. Like a green blastocyst. For that price-point, you could get decent single stones as studs or dangles, imo.

However: I often don't quite know what I'm talking about.

It seems to me like you're after emerald earrings with a design element in addition to nice emeralds, so I don't feel like studs are going to do the trick for you.

My emerald earrings were cheapies, around $500 iirc and overpriced because I got them at a B&M store in Colombia and obviously the emeralds were too included to be faceted, but I'm biased and still think they're cool. Here they are next to a higher quality emerald band which was of course dirty when I took the photo:

Like @LilAlex, to me the person who wears those first earrings you found isn't the same person who wears the second. To me it also feels like you aren't sold on these hoops and you're trying to make them work for you, but of course I could be reading something into your tone that isn't there. How would it feel if we all told you to slow down and not buy these and then they sold?

I think you may be happier choosing the emeralds and then getting a custom design. Do you have a sense yet of your priorities between color, treatment, emerald quality, emerald size, and overall earring design? You may be able to grab cheapies like I did. You may want high quality and untreated or minimally treated so any money you spend now is a distraction away from hitting your real goal. You may just care about the look and even be fine with lab emeralds.

I think the “optimal” position is the one pictured above, but sometimes the entire bejeweled portion hangs below the lobe (here’s the same design in pearls to show the difference in positions):

Not at all—keep the comments coming; I like your wit and your honesty: organic may be the intent, but there IS something microbial (much less appealing tagline!) about the look, although not sure if that’s why I’m subconsciously drawn to it given my background (professional bias one might say!).

Well first things first, they would lose me at the store credit only return policy.
But between these and the Gabriella Kiss pair, I prefer the GK pair by a mile. I love the color of the beads on this pair, but the styling is just a bit odd. I think you run the risk of the hoops not sitting right on your ear, or sagging, and not really being able to see and enjoy the emeralds. And the pearl filling is .... an interesting choice. I don't see how it adds anything to the earrings besides weight and cost.

That’s an ouch. Also something I wouldn’t risk, given the conditions of the sale.

I love the earrings. But if you’re worried about how they will hang, I think if they were studs, it would be more of a sure thing. Then you’d be able to use jumbo ear backings if necessary.

I don’t know if a conversion to studs would be simple and inexpensive, or not….

They do sell a stud version:

The price seems high to me. As far as keeping them in place, I think those little clear stopper things would do it. I do kinda like the studs better though, personally.
