The Alistair Kelsey collection

Thanks, @lovedogs and @Acinom ! Great to hear Doug being vouched for on these boards and see that he has a working relationship with AK as well. Will have to stop in to see some of his stones in person.

I've also been meaning to get more photos of the jewellery, thanks for the reminder.

Cheers,
SC
Any updates on the stone search?

@Acinom - Thank you for this thread! I love Alistair's work and I highly doubt that I would have stumbled upon him on my own. I have an octagon cut aquamarine that he's going to set in a white 18 kt Floret ring. I'm also sending a square step cut purple sapphire that I want to be taken out of a setting that is "meh" to me and transformed into a pendant/necklace. I'm excited about the process for both stones and just wanted to say thanks for posting about Alistair. =)2
How exciting for you! Looking forward to admire the result. Ask Alistair to keep the underside of the Floret ring open for cleaning.
I am grateful to @pyramid for introducing Alistair here with two fabulous rings he created for her. He is so great to work with

Do you have pics of your stones?.

@Acinom - Sorry for the delayed reply! Indeed, thank you to @pyramid as well. Thank you for the tip re: keeping the underside open. I'm sending them off first thing tomorrow am, so these aren't the best pictures (dark outside here) but will give you an idea.

The sapphire is a 1.71 ct step cut 6.53 x 6.48 x 4.42 mm. The cert lists growth structure, needle and feather inclusions. I really like the colour but doesn't have a lot of life to it. I don't think the setting helps it any. The ring is doing double duty; a reference for sizing the aqua and repurpose the stone to a pendant. I'll wear it more and not notice what bugs me about the stone.

The aqua is 4.17 ct octagon cut 13.20 x 8.0 mm.

Thank you for your interest!

Hi @Acinom - thank you for checking in. Due to the fact that the purple sapphire is set, there was a pretty steep import tax associated with sending finished jewellery to Alistair. The additional cost was not worth it for me. I went in a different direction and ordered a band from Alistair. It’s the one below - will be 18K rose gold. It should be on the way to me soon! Still planning to send the aquamarine to Alistair in a few months. =)2

Your aquamarine is fabulous! May I ask where you sourced it please? Thanks so much

@Wombats - Thank you! I purchased it from David at Multicolour. =)2

Your band is gorgeous!!! Beautiful shape and detailing and shining diamonds. Looking forward to admire your handshots.
Oh my those import duties. So glad you found this our beforehand. You can ask a local bench to remove the stone, but make shore the are very exoerienced: the stone might break when they remove the bezel.
Exciting that you will still have the Floret setting made for your aqua in a few months

Thank you @Acinom!
It was through the shipping process that I found out about the additional cost... Mercifully, they needed the money prior to sending, so it was easy enough just to cancel the shipment. Good lesson for the future, though.
Eeek, thank you, I will make sure that if the sapphire is taken out, it is done by a skilled bench. This was part of the reason that I thought it was a good idea to send it to Alistair.
I’m very excited about the band - it will pair with my 1.74 Q August Vintage European cut which is set in 18K rose and yellow.
By the way, I was drooling over your black opal that Alistair set with the burnt tips... You have an incredible collection of rings; your style is impeccable! :kiss2:
I will come back with pictures of the band!

Hi @Acinom!
Sadly, nothing yet... I told Alistair to bump me over the holidays, as required, since I was not in a hurry. Last update a few weeks ago was that it was almost complete. Hopefully I’ll have it in March! :appl:

Hi @Acinom, the band arrived today and it is spectacular. The craftsmanship is truly outstanding. It's elegant simplicity and delicateness, paired with the masterful individual hand-cut milgrain and awesome sparkle, make it a feast for the eyes. Here are a couple of pictures - I'll try to capture some decent ones of the band on its own. I can't wait to work with him again!

What a gorgeous band. And I love the pairing. Looking forward to admire more pics. Alistair is such a darling to work with isn’t he?
The detailing of your band is amazing

Hello!

Earlier this month, my wife and I slipped away for our babymoon. While on holiday, I gifted her the necklace from Alistair below.

It has 166 diamonds (in 0.8, 1, 1.2, 1.4, 1.6mm sizes, F SI), that were laid out by CAD and then hand set. The design is an evolution from an old favorite necklace of hers, re-interpreted with variable sized diamonds instead of uniformly sized Swarovski crystals (!) to increase the coverage and lend a more organic feel to the design.

The final outcome is a bit different from what I had expected, based on the original CAD, though it is still a very lovely piece that my wife is delighted with. The biggest difference is that it is much smoother and shinier, so you can barely see any gaps at all!

Cheers,
SC

Wow, that's gorgeous!

I second @lovedogs' opinion on that necklace. Wow, and thanks for sharing with us!

What a beautiful piece. You and your wife have a gorgeous Alistair Kelsey diamond collection. Will you treat us on a Group pic?

No group shot yet, but while writing another post, I realised that I never shared this piece.

My friend's fiance bought a stone from James Allen with the help of the forum (not sure if he just lurked or was active though). He then had it shipped from the US to Sydney and had Alistair make the ring below. My friend was after a classically styled solitaire and loves the final result. It looks lovely in person too!

WoW!! Thanks for sharing this. It’s a beautiful ring. Was it your recommendation to work with Alistair?

Looking forward to admire your group pics

A new stunning creation by Alistair Kelsey as shared by @SeekingClarity
A friend of him will propose with this ring.

This is a really great thread showcasing Alistair Kelsey's incredible work. Love seeing everyone's beautiful pieces. I have reached out to Alistair, and he will be making our engagement ring (so excited!). I hope to see more of his fine and fluid creations.
