What trends in jewelry do you think we will be saying, "that's sooooo 2010's" in the future?

The knuckle rings or whatever you call them where they sit at various joints of the fingers inside of being closest to the palms

Facial piercings. And those big, stretched ear lobes :eek2:

"Organic" jewellery that aims for photorealism
Super duper uber delicate micropave settings

I really hate to put this one - stack rings

I'll make it easy for you - take it off!
Stacks will persist through the 2020s at least :kiss2:
(Or PSers will be the only fuddy-duddyies sporting 'em - also fine by me :mrgreen2:)

Pricescope community members are absolutely to blame for my acquisition of a 'stack' and wearing of said stack. I will be one of many PS fuddy duddies sporting the look long after the stack era is passe.

I'd be happy to be wrong but maybe one day halos will be viewed as old fashioned.

Double halo like my previous setting.

i think these all are beautiful looks when well executed & they'll be around for years but they seem almost too trendy right now, like oversaturated....

Do you remember 14k gold herringbone necklaces and bracelets? The wider, the better!
And floating heart necklaces?
And OMG, the stickpins? We loved those stuck through the bow blouse.....eek!
And Paloma Picasso squiggles?
And all those X and O bracelets?
Rainbow gemstone jewelry?
We all had these things and loved them, but now they are out of fashion.

Yeah, I'm sure halos and micro pave bands will be outdated, as all trends eventually are.

I will be right there with the fuddy-duddies!

Verragio... So many beautiful designs, but so often such dreadful workmanship. If they could just execute consistently!! :confused2::x2:(2

I’ve had a pair of lip piercings now for ~15 years, working in a corporate environment, albeit in technology and in NZ both of which tend to be more relaxed about body modifications.
I wouldn’t assume it will go away given it’s been practiced for centuries.

I see people wanting ring guards nowadays. Wat goes around comes around lolol.

I was speaking more for the US. It’s a relatively new thing here in terms of popularity and seems to be a passing fad, kind of like belly piercings were a decade ago. Time will tell though!

Different styles of ring will come and go but a 6 prong classic style will still be popular 100 yr from now.

that’s really interesting - the indigenous population have ritual tattooing here and it’s a big thing for the Pacific Islands as well so maybe it’s got more stickability here?

I'm still a little testy that my jeweler talked me out of a halo, 9 years ago. He said they were getting dated, everyone had them the past few years and would be totally out in the next couple years. :x2

Yeah, I think there's a 50/50 chance that halos will continue to outlast the predictions of their demise. The fact is, like a padded bra, they are imminently practical. They make your stone look larger. They work well with colorless and colored stones alike. And they provide a good income to jewelers, because let's face it nobody's sending their kid to college on Tiffany-style 6 prong solitaires.

The only reason I can see them going out of style is if people stop preferring larger diamonds. (Never going to happen with this crowd obviously.)

To be honest, because of the whole Meghan Markle thing, I feel like there's a good chance that halos will outlast three stone rings. If three stones become super popular, and it looks like they're going to be, they may flame out/become dated in 5 years.

Padded bra=halo. LMAO, that is hysterical!

This has to be one of the all-time best PS analogies!
