So...I''m in the process of looking for the ring, and I''ve got my heart set on a .10 ct. tension set, stainless steel ring by TeNo. I''ve attatched a picture of the ring...I don''t know if it''ll work...so it''s at teno.com, under rings, and under Yunis 01. I''m nervous about paying $800 for it, and I''m wondering if that is a fair price. The clarity is VS1 and the color is G. I''d value any opinions, thanks!

Super! I like your choice allot.
How about Ti? Even more exotic

.

The ring does not have lots of mass, so this could work, but, for every-day wear I would prefer the inner profile of the band rounded ('confort fit' as they say). This is my finger's opinion, and a small thig.

About the price... the setting would be about $400-$500 plus the diamond, if made of Ti. There are not too many makers to use steel (very nice concept, btw. with some colorful tradition in jewelry making) so some of the price goes for the name and direct price comparisons are not readily feasible.

Hmmm maybe a tiny bit pricey, but only by maybe $100-200 and depending on who you talk to.

www.spectore.com is another manufacturer of tension set titanium rings, they don't have pictures on their site, but search for Spectore on Google and then surf pictures on retailer's sites. We tried them on in person and my fiance loved them. We were looking at a titanium tension set ring through them for my fiance's wedding ring that had a .16c diamond in it for something like $600 and a .25c in it for around $800. So the .10c stone for $800 seems a little pricey.

Is this for a male or a female? You didn't note. I would caution that if it's a female, make sure she wants something like that, it's very modern and masculine looking. If it's for a guy, I think it's perfect, my fiance's ring is going to be excellent when finished. The one thing I would note is that make sure you know the width of the band and like it. That band looks a bit thin, maybe 4-5mm? For a guy that may not be substantial enough. We are having my fiance's wedding ring done in 6.5mm width. It's also got a .38c stone that we bought separately. We are having it made through www.absolutetitanium.com. The ring itself without diamond was $800. So a little more than you noted your pricing is...but it's a custom job for ours (modification of an existing setting). I bought the stone through WhiteFlash.

Just some thoughts. Good luck and please advise if you have more questions!

I don't know if you can really compare prices for ring such as this. I was thinking about buying a TeNo ring in the past. You're not really buying the diamond, you are buying the design. I LOVE the juxtaposition of an industrial material like stainless steel against the luxury of the diamond, at the same time emphasizing the strength of these materials and contrasting their normal uses. I think that's what this ring is all about.

If you like this look, I also suggest that you check out Niessing. They have some similar designs, and they work with stainless steel as well. If you're in the Los Angeles area, Niessing has a store in the Beverly Center.

I think it's a great ring, but I would be sure that this is the type of ring that your GF is looking for. It is certainly not a traditional e-ring. This ring is certainly not about the diamond. Just be sure that this is what your GF is hoping/looking for is all I would say. Have you seen this ring in person, or just over the internet?

Also be sure you know her finger size for sure before you get the ring. I spoke with someone about ordering a TeNo ring and I think they said that each ring is made to order and can not be resized.

thank you for the ideas and feedback! I'll check out the sites....and this is actually the female of the couple...I'm shopping for my own ring because my fiance is in Iraq until next year, so I get to pick...which is unique I think

I like the look of the ring on the net...but I haven't seen it in real life...so I'll look around more I think...but I love the design, which is what you all said I'll be paying for...so I think it'd be worth it. thanks again!

valeria101,
Thank you so much for the titanium reccomendations...the "Siren" on http://www.titaniumera.com is absolutely perfect, and that website is just what I've been looking for! I even can get a bigger diamond than I originally planned on

Thanks again!

I must be talking directly into thin air...

I think it is a beautiful ring. Not for everyone (too modern), but interesting. I haven't had any stainless steel jewelery, but have lots of stainless household items, and they scratch easily! They can also dent in sheet-style applications. For a ring you would wear all the time, I would check out the durability and maintanence issues. It could be no problem, but make sure you know!

Bimmer, one thing to be aware of for this style of ring is that it is symmetrical, so the stone size will determine the thickness of the ring. Going with a larger stone will mean the ring will get thicker, and may be less comfortable to wear. I like to stop at around a 3mm stone to keep thickness in check. There are other styles, which are assymetrical, which can hold a larger stone without the need to get thicker between the fingers. These are machined in a different way, and take a lot longer to make, so are more expensive.
