I'm curious if there is a correlation between size of center stone on ring vs stud size stone.

Or if damond stud size is more related to the size of the earlobe.

I have a 1.63ct center stone (round) and ..74 and .75ct each studs. My earlobes are big though and the studs while great are shrinking LOL.

If you have both studs and a engagement ring, tell me the stud size vs the center stone ring size :) I think it would be interesting to see if there is a correlation.

As for going bigger myself one day, I am on a diamond and jewelry freeze for 2007. I promised my husband no new purchases this year since there was lots of activity in 2005 and 2006 LOL.

Too bad I have huge earlobes. Those women with cute little lobes are lucky :)

Well, I''ve upgraded my e-ring''s center stone twice (or was that three times?!?!? *cringe*) since I purchased the earrings about 3 years ago. I don''t think I''ll be upgrading the earrings though. I like them as they are. For the life of me, I can''t tell if I have large, average, or small lobes. If I recall, my *ahem* lobes with studs are posted here somewhere

I based stud size on earlobe. My e-ring is 1.5, my studs are .75 each ear.

The center stone on my e-ring is 3.37 and my studs are 1.10 each (I have really low holes; any bigger than this and the diamonds go below the bottom of my earlobe).

My center stone in 2.12 (an upgrade) and my studs are 2.11 tcw (also an upgrade now that I think about it. The original ones were .50 tcw).

I have a 1ct RB solitaire, and my diamond studs are 1cttw. Luckily I have small ears and lobes so these look big on me!

I do too, I just prefer dainty earrings like were in style 5-10 years ago when I bought mine LOL My ears don''t suffer the same "coverage" issue ;-)

Not that anyone cares, but I just had to crunch the numbers..

Averaged out amongst all posts, the average E-ring to diamond stud ratio is posted as follows

2.06 : .71 or approximately 35%

My center stone is 1.50 ct and my studs are .85 ctw (.42 and .43). I wanted about 5 mm in diameter studs because I think that looks best with my earlobes and I was concerned about comfort (speaking on phone, for example). 4 mm looked a bit small to me. I have 7 mm garnet studs and they are too big for comfort. I wasn''t really thinking about the size of the diamond in the ring. Any correlation is probably due to general preferences and means. Someone who can afford larger rings can afford larger studs, and vice versa.

I have a .74 ering, a 1.53 carat five-stone wedding ring, and I technically don''t have real diamond studs, but I wear cz''s set in white gold that are each about the size of a .50 diamond. I hope to someday get real studs that are about the same size, but I''m so worried about loosing a stud since I''ve lost my cz earrings a few times.

No ering, but solitaire RHR: 1.72ct
earrings: ~ .65ctw (.326 and .327)
pendant: ~ .556

I think the size of the earrings:pendant ratio is actually perfect. I also think they look decent with the bigger ring since they are different shapes (ring is a pear, the others are rounds).

Not to threadjack...

But I lose earrings too! I have had MANY pairs of fake studs... and I keep losing them. What gives me hope is that I''ve managed to hold onto my good pair of tahitian pearl studs... although, to be honestly I''ve nearly lost those at least ten times. I''m not planning on getting diamonds studs anytime soon, as a result. I can''t sleep with earrings so I just KNOW that I would lose them.

I have medium-sized ear lobes and wear about 0.25 cts in each ear, for a total of .5 cttw. The studs are my mother's and I wear them almost every day to feel close to her. My center stone is 3.56 ct on my Leon, and 1.37 ct on my original e-ring.

The center stone in my ering is 1.234 ct and have two sets of .80 cttw matched studs. My fourth ear piercing keeps closing up, so off to the Piercing Pagoda I go for the third time

Fellow earring losers,
I can't find my pearl studs, which I've never even worn.

I am asscherisme''s twin almost:

1.63 ct. ring stone, studs .75 each (1.5 ctw)

I like the proportion of the earrings to my ring a lot and I seriously doubt I will upgrade my studs (especially considering how hard I searched for the perfect pair!)

2.36 diamond in ring; .45 and .46 studs. I LOVE the size of my studs, and they fill up my earlobe a'plenty... but I have THE FEVER
14.gif
and so of course I dream of upgrading someday. I think .75's - .80 would be juuuust PURRRR-fect!!!
