If you want someone to know that you are open to further conversation with them, what is proper way to word it?

I said "please feel free to speak to me" but that wasn''t taken the way I meant it. So how to best word this?

Don''t stress Larissa .. I''m sure it was just a misunderstanding!

On your question ... I can''t say any phrasing is "best" but sometimes I''ve said stuff like "Vent away. I''ll keep an eye on this thread to see how you''re doing."

In your case: "This topic is very close to my heart ... I''d be happy to talk about it anytime you''d like to!"

Not at all stressed. Different strokes for different message boards...and this one seems to take less than most. Just attempting to learn and keep the different message boards straight.

This is definately not even worth hitting my list of things to stress about lately.

Thank you for teaching me.

I missed it, obviously, but as someone who frequently phrases things in an easily-misunderstood way and gets in trouble, I tend to interpret things as 'meaning well' as a default. It took a bit of adjustment, though!

And I would love to speak with you about our commonalities anytime. Not quite sure how to go about it, since we can't exchange email addresses on here without breaking the rules...

I've also noticed that the people who agree with you aren't always the ones who speak up. I've also done that myself, and then regretted not publicly supporting/agreeing with them.

One of the great things about PS is how profoundly varied the opinions are. Maybe it suggests that all humans are attracted to sparkly things, but PSers are more willing to admit it?

Larissa,

So sorry!. I've been away from my PC and wasn't able to check PS until today.

Please don't take my comment the wrong way. I misunderstood your post as in you were the only one that could relate and the rest of us were just "talking" (typing) rubbish!.

I went back and read your original post and saw how I took that out of context. That's the thing with typing rather than talking....in your mind you make up the tone for each comment (at least I make up tones in my head...hehe)

But really, I do apologize if my response bothered you in any way. I'm really not sensitive or take it personal when it comes to any posts or what people say.....I just replied too quickly to how I initially understood it. Sorry if it offended you or anyone else.

Edited: just to explain my self better and fix some grammar!...

I''m late to reply, as ever.

Mand - Don''t applogize, it''s not a big deal. I''m simply attempting to learn what the correct way is to phrase things on these boards.

Gala - I have no clue...I hate that exchanging emails is against the rules and there are no private messages on these boards. I have a friend dealing with US immigration right now and I was thinking about you the other day. If you move and get married, would you be entering on a K-1 by any chance?

Yes, we are filing for a K-1 fiancee visa. I would recommend that your friend go to VisaJourney.com which is the bible for US immigration, IMHO. It kept my head from popping right off when I was trying to figure out all the invisible hoops you have you jump through!
