Tarnish on gold?

I was hoping some of you experts could tell me what this could possibly be. It looks like some sort of brownish spots on the ring shank. For sure, it can''t be dirt because I saw this maybe 2 days after I got it back from the jeweller. I swear it wasn''t there when I bought it, and the only thing they did was resize and then clean the ring...so where did these spots come from? If I posted in the wrong section, please feel free to move it to the right one!

It is staining in the rhodium plating.

The jeweller can polish it off and replate it - no big deal - so do not panic
