Tanzanite

Hi everyone. I have a question about a 1.29 carat tanzanite. The stone is trillion cut and very brilliant and has the ideal purple/blue color with red flashes. The seller wants 300 dollars for this stone, is that a good price? Any evaluations would be greatly appreciated.

Tanzanite is a brownish color (much like the third trichroic color) when it comes out of the ground. Strong Trichroism with two of the colors, blue and purple, being readily visible to the unaided eye. Tanzanites in the larger sizes (2 carats and higher) are quite rare and can be very expensive. The material turns to its blue/purple color after heating.A good quality tanzanite in the 3-5 carat range can cost upwards of US$1,000.00 per carat. There are not any synthetic tanzanites on the market. But there are many imitations that have been developed in an effort to fool people.

So are even the most expensive Tanzanite stones heated, there are no natural unheated Tanzanite stones in existance?

I had always thought it was like Sapphire in that there was a greater grade stone available that was unheated. I am speaking about stones costing up in the thousands of dollars e.g. $10,000 plus. There is no such thing as unheated?

Just did an internet search and see there are Unheated Tanzanite stones, expensive though!
