Just thought someone else in my shoes would appreciate this:

3.08 Ct F VS1 IGI pear hpht, no blue, no flourescence, ex/ex (left)

Vs

3.18 Ct VVS2 GIA pear cvd, no fluorescence, ex/ex (right)

Basically I went to my local jeweler and they were trying to match my wife’s pear against what they could source.

This cvd definitely has some brown tint. Even after post treatment.

Whoa! They are so different, they don't even look like the same color grade.

I wonder if it could just be their source for CVD diamonds because I feel like there’s better “makes” so to speak. I’ve seen CVD with no tint, and similarly you risk grey or blue tint with HTPT

I wonder if it is also if it’s not put against another diamond that we cannot see cvd beoqn

I didn’t have a pic of it but the 5 Ct E pear was also brown. Cvd.

Interesting! Quite shocking really to see that much tint in those high color grades. One always hears how lab diamonds are “identical” to mined, but then you see weird tints, weird inclusion, phosphorescence without fluorescence etc.

I have to add I don’t have anything against lab stones and I have one myself + studs.

The 2 Ds look identical in pics and real life. I could not tell them apart in tone and hue.

Faint blue nuance…. Boron in hpht LGD.

I didn’t expect to see it at a high color, but apparently it exists.

Both IGI.

Top:
3.08 E VS1 HPHT

Bottom:
My wife’s 3.08 F VS1 HPHT

Diamonds Direct in Frisco TX was trying to get me a better deal on the LGD pear, sourced the exact dimensions and shape to replace my wife’s F, I thought this was going to be a slam dunk exchange but the E was blue and the jeweler agreed. We did not do the swap. It was disappointing.

I compared it to a couple D to see if the E was blue or just whiter. It was blue.

No fluorescence either on the cert.
