Here is a pic from ERD of a stone in my range. Don''t know crown height. GIA report to follow.

Can anyone explain its looks? colors, black bars, etc?

okay, where? i need to learn to see these for myself!

it says symmetry is VG. does that have anything to do with incomplete patterns?

and what about the black bars? normal?

black and white bars should be eye symetrical, one of the white bars is missing on the top half of the stone just above center and looking at the crown facets its fairly level so it should be showing if it was right.

okay, storm, i do see that. also there doesn''t seem to be the complementary black bar on the bottom half.

ARE black bars okay, though? Will they be the light leakers on an idealscope image? or are some normal and to be expected??

they form the patterns that make an EC a EC, but if they are too big then the diamond is dark so its a balance.
Also the dark areas flash as the diamond is moved giving it life.
