Does anybody know the best place to buy a Tag? I think I want to buy from an authorised dealer and most of the ones that come up when I do a search online aren't authorised. I worry about the warranty if I buy from one of them. I want to buy out of state(TN) to save taxes.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!!

Even searching on line you cannot find an authorized dealer? Does Tag have a site you can look for retailers on?

As long as you get your warranty card / info you should be fine. I know Jared''s sells them. My husband has bought some brand name watches from JTV.com who now has a watch section and they came with all the warranty and info you''d get in a store and at a discount price.

amazon.com has some... I''m guessing they are an authorized dealer?? I have no idea actually - but Amazon had some good prices - My FI saw one in a BM store that he wanted, and amazon is selling that same watch for nearly $1,000 less....

I am pretty sure Amazon is not an authorized dealer. I am also watch shopping and prefer a discount and an authorized dealer. The first thing I''d do is call all the authorized dealers in your area and ask if they will discount their Tag''s. I have found some that will discount up to 20% in my search so far (I''ve been looking at Ebel, Tag, Longines, Rolex). They can''t advertise it and they won''t put it in an email. But they did tell me on the phone.

This company does not sell Tag''s unfortunately, but they are authorized dealers of several nice brands. You just have to call them for prices as they cannot list discounts on the site:

Thanks DS,
My local Reeds is the AD for Tag. They will discount, but only about 10 or 15%. Everything I find on the net is about 700. to 800. cheaper than that price, but not a AD. Tag does not honor the warr. if purchased from them. I tried to buy and ship to many different states (where my family has scattered), but they have stores in all the states that I have family. That would have saved another 10%. Do you know a dealer I can call and talk to that might discount the watch and be out of state (TN)?
Thanks for any and all help!

This is a local jeweler in the Charleston area that carries Tag. I went to the one in Mt. Pleasant in late March. I can't remember what they said their discount is, probably only 5-10%. But you shouldn't have to pay sales tax with them. I'd call and ask if they discount their Tags. If they only say 5% or something, I'd tell them you are ready to buy but you are looking for at least 10% (or whatever) and see if they will budge. We have Reeds, too, so that is the other place I have seen them.

i thought 25-30% discount was normal for most brands. (except Rolex)

It''s hard to find that much of a discount unless you go with an unauthorized dealer.

What do you do when you need repairs but did not buy from an authorized dealer?

as long as have the warranty paper or card, you can get it repair in any service center around the world. in most cases...even if don''t have any papers they''ll still do the repair,if the watch is within a couple yrs old.

I imagine most quality watches will not need repair in the first few years anyway. But after that, you just pay for repairs regardless of where you purchased it, right?

I bought my hubby''s from Amazon and got an amazing deal. I saw a few at Costco also at wonderful prices ($450) and ($650).

Sorry I haven''t checked in on this thread sooner. This all makes me feel better about buying from an unauthorized dealer. I have seen the watch we were looking at about 800.00 cheaper online, but was a little worried about the warranty. Its just my luck to have it break the first day! This really does push me closer to buy online. You guys are wonderful, this is one of the reasons I love this board. It is nice to read all the pros and cons that you have to offer.

Thanks again,
cwj
