I got my new Tacori ring (2569pr6) in May and has been enjoying it very very much every single day. (https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/im-new-and-got-a-new-tacori-ring-to-show.86560/)
However, I recently noticed a design mistake that they have made - the prongs that hold the corner of the trillions are supposed to have "triple head (I don''t know a correct terminology)", but mine has "V-shape" prong top. When I discovered this, my heart sank... I thought they had a good quality control department... Aren''t they supposed to notice such as mistake? Despite my initial dissapointemnt, I tried to think positive - I thought I would accept and live with it because it itself makes my ring unique and everything else was perfect. I just love my ring! Plus, I didn''t want to risk something else going wrong when I send it back for repair (I read some threads about this before.) Yet, every time I look at the ring, it bothered me....and it bothered me some more.....and it bothered me more and more! So, I finally decided to send it back to Tacori to correct this problem. I went to my jeweler and dropped it off yesterday, and I feel relieved. I hope they will do a good job on this, and really hope that nothing else would go wrong!

I''m posting the photo of my ring and the photos from Tacori''s website (and from another website) for a comparison, so you can see what I''m talking about. I will post "after" photo when I get it back.

This is what it''s supposed to be.

This is my ring. You see the difference?

This one is from another website. It might not work..but i''ll try to post.

I actually like yours better, but I understand how it could bother you. I hope it turns out perfect!

I do see the difference... Yours is still gorgeous!! I know it will look stunning when it''s finished. Keep us posted!

If it buggs you it''s good to get it fixed. I wonder how it got mixed up in the first place? Are there several models close in style and only slightly different? Or maybe you got a newer, updated model from the one pictured. In any case, you should get the exact one that you ordered or else they need to contact you about any difference. I know I would have noticed that to as I am so picky about every little detail of my jewelry. Hope it won''t be long until it is perfect and on your finger once again.

I like your better also. I''m just wondering if it isn''t a permanent design change from Tacori? Perhaps they had trouble with the trillions loosening in the prong setting and went to the V-tip to correct?

I would have had the jeweler contact Tacori to confirm before I had my ring mailed off. Can they call Tacori, or has it already been mailed?

I just have to say, I love the title of this thread. The English teacher in me chuckles a bit.
Your ring is gorgeous by the way.

Annie

Sorry to hear about your problem with your ring. I would think a v type prong would offer the diamond more protection. I hope everything works out the way you want it too. Good Luck!!!

Thanks everyone for nice and comforting comments. Yes, I have already sent it back to Tacori yesterday, and my jeweler did call Tacori while I was there. She did not mention anything about a new design change or a design update, all she said was "they''ll see what they can do". If there was such a change, I''m supposed to be notified when I ordered the ring, don''t you think? The photos on their newest catalog are the same as their current website''s which I posted above, so I''m assuming no change on the design has been made. I''m hopeful and staying positive dispite all this, and I still love Tacori! I hope they''ll do a fabulous repair job!

I see what you mean and I do like the 3 ''dot'' head. I think it might be called fishtail prongs. I think they add a more antique look to the piece.

Hope it all gets sorted satisfactorily!

i see what you mean. i would have sent it back too. i agree that the triple head prongs are more beautiful

Ditto! I''m sure yours will be even more gorgeous when it comes back to you!

I completely understand your dilemma. That feature stands out, and I will understand if you go as far as to say it''s why you ordered it! I would want it fixed as well. Here''s some *dust* for you.

That ring is beautiful!!

I agree that it was right to send it back and have them rectify the situation. I personally like the "fishtail" prong and think it adds to the vintage charm that Tacori is all about.

That being said, I really hope it all turns out!

*UPDATE*

My jeweler callled me yesterday. She said she spoked to a Tacori rep and was told that there actually was an update on the design because v-prongs were more secure, but they were willing to change mine to its original fishtail prongs if I wish. I told her to tell them to maybe put three beads-like thing on the v-prongs, if possible, to make them look like the original, so that it would have security of the v-prongs and have the look of the fishtail that I want. She said she will convey the message.

I''m glad that Tacori is willing to accomodate, but I have to say that I can''t help feeling dissapointed.

I ordered this ring in April and was not notified of any design change. Now, only after I purchased it, noticed it and sent it back, they are telling me that the design update was already in back then. The photos on Tacori''s website didn''t show an update on this ring back then and it STILL hasn''t as of today (It''s mid-JULY!)! How was I supposed to know of the design change which my jeweler didn''t even know? Only after I ordered and purchased it? As a consumer, I feel betrayed. It''s like a false advertising. I understand that the design updates sometimes happen, but don''t they have a responsibility to notifying the consumers (at least to their retailers)? Or, at least, a curtesy notification to the customers who actually purchase it?? They are a famous "DESIGNER jewerly" brand - don''t they think any DESIGN changes matter to their customers at all? Don''t they care enough to reflect the updates on their website in a timely manner at least??

I hope anybody who are thinking of purchasing this ring would read this thread and find out about the design change BEFORE their purchase.

I''ll see how this ends up. I''ll post the photos of the ring when I get it back. Thank you for listening my mumbling....

Tacoring-
I just wanted to say that I know EXACTLY how you are feeling. I went through the same ordeal last month. I could not believe that they had changed the design and neither the website, nor the samples that the designer had in retail stores reflected the design modification. Like yours, the reason for the modification was to strengthen the ring. I, however, was determined to have the ring made to represent the setting that I had always seen and loved. And, so, after 5 looong weeks, I finally got it back and it is just perfect! I guess what I''m trying to say is that persistance pays. Hang in there... it will be worth it. Good luck

your ring is beautiful! i think the "v" prongs on the tips looks safer, but either way its a gorgeous ring!

I'm glad to hear that they are working on this for you. I think it looks beautiful both ways, but the triple tip is a nice "flowery" flourish that I'd notice as well. It's a gorgeous ring! Hope you get it back soon!

I am glad that I found this website and read about your ring. This is the exact ring that I have asked my bf to get me. I will have to let him know that when he goes to purchase the ring to make sure he looks for design mistakes such as this. Keep us posted on when you get it back and if they fix the prongs. Also, thanks for posting this, it was really helpful and now I am even more excited about the ring. It wasn't in the stores and I have never seen it but on the Tacori website and your pictures of the ring are so beautiful, I love it even more now. Thanks!

Thank you sslkrissi, diamond lover1, pixley, and notationz2000.

sslkrissi - I read your story. Wow! What an ordeal you went through! I''m so happy for you that your persistance paid off, and your ring is absolutely beautiful!

I definitely like your ring the way it is now. It''s perfect! Thank you for sharing your story. It made me feel better to know I''m not the only person going through such an ordeal. I hope I would have a happy ending like you.

notationz2000 - I''m so glad that you read about this before your/your BF''s purchase. You can look at my ring and compare its look with the modification (v-prongs) and with the original (fishtail prongs), and decide which way you want. If you haven''t read my previous thread, go check it out! I posted tons of photos in that thread. The link is posted above. Make sure you tell your jeweler about the design update (they probably don''t have a clue!) and have them verify with Tacori, so that you, your jeweler and Tacori will all be on a same page. Also, if your princess cut diamond is not completely square, I suggest you specify which way you want your diamond to be set. Not all princess cut are square and nor is mine (5.05 x 4.82 x 3.45mm). When I first ordered the ring, I didn''t specify it - it just didn''t occur to me to specify such matter - becasue I thought the measurement difference is so minute and it wouldn''t make any difference on its appearance. But it DID! They set the diamond horizontally and it WAS noticeable. I had to send it back to tacori to set it vertically which is the way I preferred. (I didn''t mention this in my previous thread.) I hope this helps! Good luck on your purchase!!

My jeweler finally called yesterday (Yay!!). I went there right away and picked up my ring. I was told previously (about 2wks ago) that Tacori could not do what I hoped they could do (putting 3 beads on the v-prong), but could do the original fishtail prongs. That sounded fine with me, so I asked them to do just that. I''m very happy with how it turned out, and I''m so glad that I did this. Yes, the change is very subtle, but it made a big difference to ME! If I hadn''t done it, it would have been bugging me for the rest of my life! So, without further ado, here are the pics.
