I was just at a local jeweler who is having a 40% off sale on all Tacori as they are no longer going to carry them. They happened to have 1 ring that my girlfriend was absolutely drooling over in a size 6.5. The girlfriend is a size 7 and they thought it wouldnt be a big deal to re-size the ring to a size 7, which they said would cost $200. They also said setting the diamond would cost $50 as they would need to widen the prongs. The diamond in the setting currently is a 6.25 diameter, and mine is a 7.45 diameter.

1. does this seem like a huge ripoff?
2. does it make sense that this ring could be resized (both the head and ring itself) to fit these specifications?

Thanks in advance for sharing your expertise!

also just occurred to me to give the model number of the tacori ring in question: 2578rd.

thanks again.

Any work on a Tacori setting should be done by Tacori. I would personally find out if they will send it back to Tacori for setting and to have the work done. I would NOT let anyone else work on a designer piece, it will void the warranty in most cases and from what I have seen, usually results in a botched job.

Thanks Dreamer,

i actually called another Tacori rep nearby, and they mentioned that the resizing is free for life with Tacori, so there goes that cost.

They also mentioned that there are different head sizes for these rings, and Tacori will not modify the head size on an already existing ring. This kind of spells a strikeout for me unless this head size is expandable within their boundaries.

I dont even know where to begin trying to figure that out...

i think I'm going to try calling a few more agents.

Tacori will change the center stone configuration on some ring styles, but it is considered on a ring by ring basis...

Here's the deal with the Tacori warranty and lifetime sizing... It is only valid with merchandise purchased from an authorized dealer at the MSRP set by Tacori, they require a copy of the retail sales receipt as validation of proof of purchase and will not honor the warranty / sizing for merchandise purchased at a discount.
